Any mistake by those representing the downtrodden is buried, or in the MSM mind irrelevant to the greater cause.

Your pointing out Sharptons Brawley hoax, Jesse’s Hymie, are prefect examples.

Time to take off the gloves and call simply state “ I’ll say I’m sorry when you take the first step”.

It’s the ultimate irony isn’t it? Sharpton is one of the few people in America of whom we can say that he incited a criminal arson that resulted in multiple deaths. And now he’s the arbiter of what constitutes hate speech!

I think Imus owes a lot of people apologies — start with the Rutgers athletes and move on to Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. But considering what’s accepted these days, from hip hop “artists” to Rosie, it’s hard to say that he’s the worst.

All of this is a tempest in a teapot. Imus calls caucasians...honkies on a regular basis. He quotes P.Diddy and other gangster rappers using their own language ebonic or jive or whatever you call it. He is a shock-jock politico and outrageous because people are entertained by outrageous comments. Hell, when Bill Cosby told the NAACP and black parents to use and teach English properly, they assaulted him.

Imus is provacative and that is his gig. I have heard him say that Cheney should be stabbed in the heart. Which is worse? Now the poverty pimps are trying to extort (Jackson) Imus and make an example of him for doing what 99% of Black People say in their own linguistics. It is riduculous.

But it couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I think all of his gruveling is because Les Moonves told him to apologize or pack his bags...and this would have cost Imus millions of dollars. Howard Stern repoted that Imus was racist through and through, but I have simply not witness it exclusive to blacks. To quote Don Imus, "I hate just about everyone I know." That is his schtick.

Did anyone listen to Howard Feinman kissing butt this morning on Imus? He made it pretty clear that all the usual suspects, Tim, Chris, Andrea, Jonathan, will be beating down Imus’ door because Imus is one of the only voices out there on the really important issues. Those issues are Bush, Cheney and every other republican is dirt. Feinman showed his true colors and proved the libs don’t care if a person is anti-semitic or anti-black as long as they are anti-conservative.

His remarks were in bad taste, but without remarks in bad taste there would not be much left of Imus' shows.

Imus makes fun of everyone including himself. But I believe what he said this morning is sincere:

“Here’s what I’ve learned: that you can’t make fun of everybody, because some people don’t deserve it,”

I don’t think he ever considered that before. He won’t be the same after this, which is a good thing for him personally.

[... a radio show hosted by the Rev. Al Sharpton, who has called for Imus to be fired over the remarks. ..]

Sharpton made his name dealing with "Nappy headed Ho's"..
As has Jesse Jackson, Charlie Rangle, and Bill Clinton..

Imus is a pig in general, it's what pays his rent and he's been that way for years. If his critics du jour could find a group the he hasn't offended at one time or another they would have a better chance of getting him fired. As it is I don't see how any of his stations could fire him without paying off whatever is left on his contract, he didn't do anything different that what they have been paying him to do every other day. This isn't like Opie and Anthony where a church got desecrated as part of a cheap stunt, he was just talking like a bigoted moron. For most humans that would be a firing offense but in Imus' case bigoted moron is part of his job description.

It will be interesting to see how many, IF any, Democrat politicians have the guts to show up on his program any time soon.

You would at least expect Tim Russert to jump to his defense. LOL.

I thought Imus was finished after his disastrous flop-sweat drenched performance at the WH Press Corps dinner in front of the Clintons 10 years ago.

He'll get through this but he knows his shelf life is expiring and he'll be soon executing his exit strategy.

Calling himself "a good person"

Be especially double-wary.

It wouldn’t bother me if Imus was fired but I would rather see him let go for being a stupid mouthy jerk than for calling some one a Ho.

“And because the climate on this program has been what it’s been for 30 years doesn’t mean it’s going to be what it’s been for the next five years or whatever.”

BUT

“We will still bash Bush, conservatives, Republicans, Christians, patriots, and anything else that is good for the United States.”

I didn’t watch the game, but I saw the highlights this morning. The Islanders damn near threw their entire season away, didn’t they?

Imus needed to apologize to the women of the Rutger’s Basketball team. They certainly didn’t deserve to be called names on national TV and Radio.

The Duke Lacrosse players were also just private citizens, teenagers and college students, before they got ripped to shreds by people like Jackson and Sharpton on national TV.

We have lost our civility, and behavior that was already boorish when aimed at national politicians and public figures is not regularly applied to ordinary people who do nothing more than make the mistake of becoming “interesting” to some media personality, a way to make money or drum up support.

I wonder if the crypt keeper will challenge sharpton to come clean with his racist interloper and tawana brawley shakedowns. Imus is tired and wants to go home, just signed up for 5more years of easy money and wants to get canned so he can take the money and run.

Meanwhile, the Rev. Jesse Jackson planned a protest ...

Maybe Jackson can spit in Imus's sandwich.

Isn't there a cold blooded killer somewhere that Jackson can try to let loose on innocent people somwhere? Oh that's right him and Gandhi and Joan Bias failed on Tookie.
