PYONGYANG, North Korea --New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson on Monday toured a U.S. warship captured by North Korea in the 1960s that is now used to inspire anti-American sentiment in the reclusive communist regime.

Is he denouncing it?
Richardson and Principi should be ashamed to be used as props for the North Koreans. This is contemptible. The USS Pueblo is still carried as a USN commissioned ship on active duty. Are these guys total fools? I hope someone in the GOP raises an uproar. This is f**king unbelievable!!!!
The USS Pueblo is still a commissioned ship on active duty in the USN. As a fomer naval officer, I am furious.
Yes, it is infuriating.
I’ll say this for Richardson, as far as I know he has walked a fine line with his visits. He has always contacted the administration about them. The admin may not like the visits, but he has not gone against their wishes as did Pelosi.
I'm sure there wasn't much they could do about it at the time. From the ABQ Journal story on the visit:
[Richardson] called the Pueblo visit ''a lot of propaganda, but we're guests here.''
Principi, who was a Navy officer at the time of the Pueblo's capture, said it was disconcerting to have something from that era still on display. ''It's very unpleasant to hear the assertion of continued aggression against the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea,'' Principi said.
As I said earlier, this will sting Richardson badly.
—— him and the horse he rode in on.
Bingo
Should have been bombed right where it's tied up.
Bullsh*t. They could have cut the tour short right then and there. They should have refused to get out of the car.
As I said earlier, this will sting Richardson badly.
I have sent emails to Senator Warner and Congressman Wolfe. The WH is next. There is absolutely no excuse for this.
Why in the world would a wannabe Presidential candidate let himself be used by N. Korea? This isna’t showing forign policy experience, it’s showing inexperience.
Indirectly, yes.
I’m with you, kabar. I’m with you 100%.
IF, it becomes widely known....since he is a dem, the DBM will most likely ignore it.
LOL I know hermits with more firepower. Heck, my high school homeys had more. Well, in the aggregate. I don’t know why the ADM wanted the weapons stored, those “heavy” weapons were frozen and inoperable. Perhaps he didn’t want to “provoke” the DPRNK. Warship...that’s a good one. :D)
You are correct. He preferred them to be stowed to avoid a provocation.
What happened to CMDR Boucher was sad. That boat had no business going in harms way. I believe I would have done things differently. I probably wouldn't be writing this now.
Later Gator.
Glad I chose him to be the Dem pres choice months ago. I think this will vault him to prominence in the eyes of the liberals.
He seemed like a average officer who tried to do the best he could in the circumstances he could.
I wouldn’t blame CDR Bucher or even his superiors for that. I blame the North Korean Communists.
Same as I do for the shootdown of that EC-121 over the Sea of Japan. In my opinion, we owe the North Koreans for both of those incidents.
Concur. NK to blame.
