President Thanks National Guard for Helping Secure U.S.-Mexico Border
American Forces Press Service ^ | John J. Kruzel

WASHINGTON, April 9, 2007 – President Bush today thanked National Guard members deployed across Texas, California, Arizona and New Mexico for helping the Border Patrol crack down on illegal entry across America’s southern border.

“We’ve worked with our nation’s governors to deploy 6,000 National Guard members to provide the Border Patrol with immediate reinforcements,” Bush said during a speech on immigration policy in Yuma, Ariz. “It’s called Operation Jump Start, and the Guard down here is serving nobly.”

Announced by the president May 2006, Operation Jump Start deployed National Guard members to assist the Border Patrol in protecting the U.S.-Mexico border.

“It takes time to train the Border Patrol,” Bush said, “and until they’re fully trained, we’ve asked the Guard to come down.”

National Guard troops are providing immediate help with surveillance, construction and logistics, and Guardsmen are building fences, as well as manning detection equipment on the border and in command centers.

The arrival of National Guard reinforcements in four southern border states has put more manpower on the border and allowed the border patrol to move more than 300 agents into front-line positions. White House officials reported that the additional manpower is helping curb illegal immigrants from entering the country.

Speaking from the Yuma, Ariz. border patrol sector, where more than 600 National Guard members are stationed, Bush said members there are pleased with their assignment.

“I had the chance to visit with some of the Guard, and … they like being down here in Yuma, Arizona,” he said. “They like the people, and they like the mission.”

Bush voiced his appreciation for the Guard members and their families.

“I thank their families for standing by the men and women who wear the uniform during this particular mission,” Bush said. “You e-mail them back home and tell them how much I appreciate the fact they’re standing by it.”

He is going to give away the store by August. He is just trying to sugar coat it. hwere was the GOP and the DIMS for the last 20 years? One report (to be released) states that illegals cost US Taxpayers 100 BILLION DOLLARS. Had GWB closed the borders 6 years ago, then he could have fought the IRAQ war for free and have enough left over to get rid of IRAN.

Kinda sad really. The NG was never intended to do much of anything aside from proving that we don’t have the will to protect our own borders. It’s a shamefull misuse of their talent.

Pres. Bush also stated in his speech that catch and release has been ended. That’s another one of those ‘depends on the meaning of is’ kinda things. Misleading at best. Cong. Culbertson was on Glenn Beck earlier talking about how ‘catch and release’ is still going on for about 90% of what they catch.

Is President Bush really that stupid, that he believes his own bullsquat — or does he think we are stupid enough to believe he is working to secure the borders and defend the sovereignty and culture of the United States?

There are more deaths of Americans at the hands of illegal immigrants in all their “capacities” EACH YEAR - than the TOTAL killed in Iraq and Afghanistan over the 4 years of war.

INVASION USA
Illegal aliens murder
12 Americans daily
Death toll in 2006 far overshadows total

WASHINGTON – While the military “quagmire” in Iraq was said to tip the scales of power in the U.S. midterm elections, most Americans have no idea more of their fellow citizens – men, women and children – were murdered this year by illegal aliens than the combined death toll of U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan since those military campaigns began.

Though no federal statistics are kept on murders or any other crimes committed by illegal aliens, a number of groups have produced estimates based on data collected from prisons, news reports and independent research.

Twelve Americans are murdered every day by illegal aliens, according to statistics released by Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa. If those numbers are correct, it translates to 4,380 Americans murdered annually by illegal aliens. That’s 21,900 since Sept. 11, 2001.

Total U.S. troop deaths in Iraq as of last week were reported at 2,863. Total U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan during the five years of the Afghan campaign are currently at 289, according to the Department of Defense.

MANY thanks to the brave NG and BP and other faithful law enforcers on the front lines--but even so...wouldn't it STILL be more correctly called Operation Jump Fence?

I honestly think that the politicians of this country honestly think we are that stupid. Our voting, as a whole, prove them right. As long as we have the two party mentality, we will continue to get exactly what the D's and the R's in their generosity cast off to us.

How that man can stand and look people in the eye while lying through his teeth amazes me.

If he had wanted "border security", he would have secured the borders on 9/12/01 and he would have demanded enforcement of existing immigration laws.

His pants are on fire, and America knows it.

" 21,900, I wonder how many of their families got a letter or call from the President?"

Surely you jest!
Hell - as the article I linked reveals - the Government does NOT admit keeping records on the number of crimes committed by illegal aliens.... That would be a number no one in Government would want to reveal.

Even "Homeland Security" doesn't officially consider that a action item to address!
I've come to wonder exactly WHOSE Homeland the bastards are attempting to "secure" - Mexico's?

I've been convinced for years - that NOTHING will be done about the 10s of millions currently in the country draining resources, filling our courts and prisons, driving up taxes and insurance costs, bankrupting our medical system and diminishing the educational systems nation wide.
To say nothing of the once eliminated diseases illegal aliens carry in that are once again infecting our citizens..

The illegal allies represent potential DNC voters and Union Dues payers -- once they are given amnesty or otherwise granted legal access to the voting booth....
That is precisely WHY they are receiving white glove treatment - while some worthwhile law abiding, self sufficient hopeful immigrants wait patiently in line for decades...

We've become to docile and "civilized" to survive much longer..
In a sane world -- the border would have been closed by now by huge stinking piles of corpses along the border....
Left as a message...No Trespassing -- Violators Shot.

Here in Kalifornicate - it's hard to find a family that hasn't been impacted by uninsured accidents, injury, theft of one kind or another, assault or murder at the hands of our "illegal and uninvited guests"...

More Americans killed by illegal aliens than Iraq war, study says

When you start digging into the numbers the only ones that can be sourced with the feds are the number of American murdered in 2005: 16692
I have seen federal numbers for illegals held in jail ranging from 19.3% to 27% of the federal prison population.

Here's a sampling of USA cities wanted for murder. What you'll see is that in big USA cities like LA or NYC most of the murderers are Hispanic. Unknown are the % of illegals. In smaller cities the FBI will post the nationalities of the murderers. About 25% of the most wanted are illegals wanted for murder. This number agrees with the percentage of illegals incarcerated in federal prisons. +-25%

Pictures of top 10 most wanted in LA. Up until recent stories about crime in LA posted by the LA Times--the pictures included the nationality of the murderers. They were all foreign nationals and mostly Mexican.

Wanted for Murder in New York City.

Chicago wanted for Murder

Philadelphia wanted for murder

New Orleans wanted for Murder

Pictures of suspects wanted for murder in Washington DC

FBI USA 10 most wanted. (two of 10 are Mexican nationals)

There are currently no exact numbers on the number of Americans killed by illegals. Part of the reason is that the government deliberately obscures the number. I talked on the phone with the head of statistics for the US Bureau of Prisons. He said his office wasn't allowed to publish the number of illegal alien murderers. Rather they were forced to put legal and non legal residents in the same category. I talked to ICE. They put out detailed numbers on illegal child molestors. However, they put out nothing on illegal murderers.

Part of the reason for the silence on the matter is that there is evidence to suggest that most Americans being killed by illegals are black--as is the suggestion in this LA Times Article.

All that said, it could be argued that if you include the number of illegals in state and local prisons the number of illegals in jail shrinks to 6% of the total prison population. Never the less if you multiply 16692 (the number of americans murdered in 2005) * .06 (illegal alien percent of total prison population) * 4 (the number of years the US has been in Iraq). The result is that more americans (4006) have been killed by illegals than have been killed in the Iraq war.

This point needs to be hammered home. Just as the liberals have hammered home the point about americans killed in Iraq.

Any word on how effective the NG has actually been these past few months?

A year ago the Yuma Sector had the most IA apprehensions on the border, because of that I think the most resources have been dumped into this sector. The Guard has been effective in the Yuma Sector, they have slowed the flow greatly. The busy areas have been well covered by NG posts, sometimes 1/4 mile apart, which has detered IA crossings.

A year ago it was normal for 15 to 20 of us manning from 7 to 10 posts to detain 10 to 15 IAs over a 4 hour period. Since then up until a month ago we had only detained 12 IAs since the first of July. About three weeks ago we set up 5 stationary posts, between NG posts, we detained 10, in two locations in about 3 hours. That tells me that they are a good deterent, but some still slip through.

From what I read the heavy presence of Guard here has detered the crossings to other areas, when monitoring the scanner, I notice there is more activity along the California, Mexico Border in Eastern California. I read that BP apprehensions were up over last year in the area West of Nogales, Az.

6000 is a joke, we need a lot more with fire power

You haven't worked this out as a staffing/manpower/logistics exercise, have you? Granted, 6k falls short of enought to do the job if they're doing the job on their own, but the present idea is to support USCBP, not take over the job from them. But if border control was to be run by the military, those 6000 would make an excellent start, about a third of what would be needed once rotations and support are factored in, and it could probably be done with 10,000 with the right command structure and coms support.

There are only 24 counties in the US located on the Mexican border. Begin with one battalion each, [691 personnel each, for Stryker battalions] which would total 16,584 warm bodies, pretty close to the present 17,700 in a full-strength Division, usually run by a two-star Major General.

Run the command structure with each state's forces under the control of a BGEN, which will require 4 BGENS. Give them a 2-star MGEN to command them, as *Southern Border Command* or something similarly named. Or it could be a way to maintain an active-duty divisional unit.

Alternately: Let the USMC take responsibility for the US border in California, since they have major training and operational bases in CA, and since a 4-month border tour would make a fine first operational duty assignment tour for a young Marine just out of 'Boot at San Diego. The Army maintains a major presence in Texas [Ft Hood, Ft Bliss, Ft Sam Houston] so the Army is similarly tasked there. The USAF has major bases in Arizona and Texas [Luke AFB, Davis-Monthan AFB in Az, plus Dyess and Sheppard AFB s and the USAF Department of Defense Military Working Dog Program training center/341st Training Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base outside San Antonio, Texas, so they get Arizona. And if New Mexico is short of Navy assets for border ops, they could be a joint operation, or can provide a testbed locale for expanded and hopefully effective USCBP/ICE efforts.

When the USMC provided personnel to serve as guards on Railway Post Offices and for mail delivery trucks during the 1920s, it took only about 2500 men and 68 officers for the entire country, 122 officers and 4660 enlisted men having so served in total from 1921-1927. And armed robberies of US Mail aboard trains and of Post Offices and the accompanying murders of postal employees came to a screeching halt.

No, though a former staff aide of former US Representative John Hostettler asked for a 3-page summary, which he got from me. With Hostettler's defeat in the 2006 election, I'd expect that it's since been roundfiled.

You're welcome to pass it on if you get the opportunity, however, and I can be contacted at my work e-mail at tirp@rock.com

From an earlier thread

SAN YSIDRO — As planning begins to reduce the number of National Guard troops along the border with Mexico, less than 1,000 of 6,000 new U.S. Border Patrol agents that the Bush administration wants in place by the end of next year have been hired.

As of March 17, the Border Patrol has only been able to hire and train 593 new agents or 9 percent of the administration’s goal, according to Javier Rios, a Border Patrol spokesman in Washington.
