Kerry conspicuous even out of '08 fray [Lurch and TeRAYzuh alert]
The Washington Times ^ | 10 Apr 07 | Christina Bellantoni

Sen. John Kerry isn't running for president, but he's assumed the vocal and visible roles of campaign fundraiser, Iraq critic, political author and, now, global warming expert. The Massachusetts Democrat has inserted himself into every issue on Capitol Hill -- from conditions at veterans' hospitals to Major League Baseball -- keeping his public profile as prominent as it was during his failed 2004 White House bid. "Hopefully, now I have a chance to talk about these things and people know it's coming from my heart and my gut, not from a political strategy," Mr. Kerry said Sunday on ABC's "This Week." The senator appeared with his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, as the two touted their new book, "This Moment on Earth: Today's New Environmentalists and Their Vision for the Future." He assessed the 2008 field and said no candidate so far is doing a great job staking out progressive environmental policy. "I'm going to watch carefully and see who does articulate it," he said. "Because to me, it's a critical component of leadership of the future." Taking a page from Al Gore's playbook, Mr. Kerry has jumped on the climate-change issue, frequently praising the former vice president in campaign e-mails and preparing to debate former House Speaker Newt Gingrich on the topic this morning. When Mr. Kerry gave a choked speech in January announcing he would not try to seek the presidency in 2008, he promised he wouldn't go away. "I intend to devote all my efforts and energies over the coming two years not to another race for the presidency for myself, but to doing whatever I can to ensure that the next president can take the oath with a reasonable prospect of success," he said.

My favorite quote: "Hopefully, now I have a chance to talk about these things and people know it's coming from my heart and my gut, not from a political strategy," Mr. Kerry said Sunday on ABC's "This Week."

John Kerry is Mr Irrelevant. Even the other Senate Dems are ignoring him.

“I was never out of sight of Tom Belodeau or Mike Medeiros,” Kerry said. “I went straight out from the boat to the path so I had a line of fire. I never went behind the hootch, and this is the first time in 30 years that anybody has suggested otherwise.” Problem here is this is exactly what his first Silver Star citation has been suggesting for the last 30 years as it reads:

“. . . Without hesitation Lieutenant (junior grade) Kerry leaped ashore, pursued the man behind a hootch, and killed him, capturing a B-40 rocket launcher with a round in the chamber.”

It’s unbelievable. The man did so little in his senatorial career before 2004 that he had to run on his four months of experience as a LTJG almost forty years ago, and now-—in the twilight of his political career-—he finally figures out he should become more “involved” in the issues? Mother of God, what an idiot. I curse my fellow Gay Staters for sending this retard back to the Senate term after term after term . . .

Since picking up on the “global warming”, Kerry is sounding out the waters for Al Gore. Whether you believe in the resurgence of the Poster Child for Silly Irrelevance or not, some of the Dem’crat glitterati still do. Kerry LOST the 2004 election, because he was thought to be the sacrificial lamb (which he was). It would have taken only a little more effort in a few key states, to have flipped the election, and it could possibly have been done on the merits of an HONEST candidate. But the Dem’crats offered no honest candidate then, and they offer none now.

An endorsement from Kerry = The Kiss of Death

"...I served in Vietnam"

and I lied about Vietnam - was part and parcel to the cutting of funds in that conflict, leaving honorable Americans without help and many to die; leaving many behind and many thousands more of that countries population to be slaughtered by the enemy.....it would please me very much to do the same thing in Iraq ASAP. I lied then and it worked - my lies are still working today.

John Kerry should not even be a senator...if the Rules were followed for traitors - he should be behind bars or worse..............

And a beautiful state you have indeed, notwithstanding its politics. I was fortunate enough in my college years to spend a year in the Berkshires, and my grandson's paternal side lives in the Cape Cod area.

That being said, I think Kerry thought that he could take a woefully unchallenged Senate career (I mean, how much effort does it take to be a Liberal Democrat Senator from Massachusetts?) and think it could fly on the national stage.

Mr. Backbencher has decided his likes the attention and will try to out-Schumer Chuckie. Of course Kerry’s legislative contributions(or oack thereof) still reek. But that is OK with MA, I suppose.
