There IS something that could be done about it - Bill Clinton could be put on trial for treason. That's what could be done about it. And this would elimiate the Chinese threat. Wow, could you explain?

"God wasnt the one who allowed China to obtain Permanent Normal Trade Relations without first meeting the Human Rights stipulation that had been part of the deal; it was George W. Bush.Normal trade relations are one thing - selling secret missile technology to them is a whole different ballgame. ( a much more dangerous ballgame)

So, according to your logic - why bother jailing a murderer? It won't bring the victim back to life.
In both situations - it may not undo the action that was taken - but it still punishes the one who did it.
Can you understand that?

Justice has it's own rewards, but, like punishing any criminal it will serve as a warning to the next scumbag who looks up to Clinton as a paragon.

Somehow you strike me as similar to the people on the left who want Bush and Cheney in jail; or perhaps the wacko European leftists who want to try Americans in the ICC.
Seems like a political vendetta that would cause so much more harm than good that all I can assume is that self flagellation is a hobby of yours.

I hope you don’t think laughter demonstrates anything pertinant to this discussion. Your failure to see the difference between justice and witch hunts borne from hatred and/or envy is myopic. It’s exactly this type of attitude that allows someone like Sandy Berger a slap on the wrist and someone like Libby to face jail time.

Look at the bigger picture: Not one single President since Nixon has really stood up to China. Each and every one of them has made some type of concession with the Chinese.

Had Bush and Cheney authorized the sale of our secret missile technology to China - then yes, I'd be calling for their trial.
But they didn't - Clinton did.
You seem to have trouble grasping the concept of treason. Giving Red China missile technology was a treasonous act.
I assume from your posts that you think it was perfectly OK.
You still didn't answer my question about punishing a murderer when the punishment won't bring back the dead. No different than punishing Clinton would bring back our technology.

LBJ refused, Nixon refused, Ford refused, even Jimmah Cahter refused, Reagan refused, Bush refused and Clinton did it for a lousy illegal political donation.

Your point being what?
Because Willy sold us out, that makes it ok for Bush to do it too?
Bush also lifted the restriction on dual use technology that had been in place on the Chinese for so many years. I’m sure the Uygurs are so thankful.

Remember this deal? The Clinton administration allowed this sale to go through with the stipulation that the US was to have oversite on how the computer was to be used. Bush eliminated that requirement.

Neither. It wasn't a witch hunt as obvious wrong doing occurred and it is further obvious that records were disposed of to cover up the wrong doing. Was it Justice to spend so much time on it? No...it looked petty.
On the other hand Republicans that have done far less face jail time while Dems, if prosecuted at all, get a slap on the wrist.

I see what you are saying, but I just wanted to send a quick link to show how some FReepers view similar focus on the other side:

Yo may think it is justified legally, and regardless of the merits or your argument, to others and probably most Americans it just seems political.
