Do We Really Want a President Who Is Afraid of a Cable Network?

April 10, 2007

Fox News is Democrat Kryptonite. They run from this monster like Michael Moore from an approaching salad bar. Why?

Democrats say that Fox News is biased. Fine, let’s run with that assumption for a moment. If Fox News is such a politically biased joke, then you’d think the candidates would relish an opportunity to appear on their air and demonstrate that fact to the world. After all, somebody who wants to be president can’t be seen running from a tough challenge — can they? Absolutely. Cowardice happens to be vogue, and Democrats are determined to be fashionable at any cost.

First, John Edwards, The Breck Girl, started the anti-Fox trend by saying he’d not participate in a debate sponsored by the cable net. Now he’s done it again by avoiding another Fox News debate. The Edwards’ must have mistaken Fox News for their neighbor.

Then Barack Obama skipped out of the same debate so fast you’d have thought he found out it was going to be moderated by Don Imus. Hillary, blowing a golden opportunity to stand up to the man, also declined to participate. Democrats are pulling out of so many Foxes that it’s starting to look more like a porno movie than a political campaign.

The latest debate is co-sponsored by the Congressional Black Caucus. How bad would the verbal bashing be if these were Republicans?

Edwards, Clinton and Obama want it to appear that they’re standing up to the biased monster by running away. This is the kind of bravery of which many a surrender has been made. Somebody please tell these people that they’re running for president, but not of France.

One thing’s for sure: there will be more Fox News debates, and more Democrat candidates trying to score points and appease their base by blowing them off, not thinking that they’ve already got the base on board. But it’s those voters on the fence who might be impressed by witnessing a liberal David standing up to a biased Goliath — at least until David wets himself and runs off screaming. The possibility of the latter is why there are, so far, no Democrats at Fox News debates.

Will Obama, Clinton and Edwards pull out of CNN’s debate? It’s fairly clear that CNN is biased, but of course the candidates won’t avoid CNN, because it’s their kind of bias.

How about debates sponsored by CBS? Or NPR? Or ABC, NBC, PBS, The New York Times, BET or USA Today? Republicans won’t skip out of these debates because they’re sponsored by “biased” entities, which is one of the reasons I’ll probably end up voting for a Republican.

GOP candidates know it’s their one chance to have a say while in the same room. Democrat candidates know the same as it relates to Fox News, which is why I wonder if their skipping out has less to do with bias and everything to do with the fact that Fox News simply reports what boneheads these people are and there’s no proving otherwise.

A presidential candidate who’s afraid of a friggin’ cable television network probably isn’t the best equipped to protect the nation from Iran, Al Qaeda, Kim Jong Il or any other threat — but dammit, they’ll have shown Fox News who’s scared!

The days of a CNN correspondent asking a Democrat candidate how he'd react if his wife were raped are long gone.

Strange, isn't it? Today we would call Bernie Shaw "fair and balanced."

FOX should ask what these candidates think of FOX viewers—are’t the viewers citizens, too?

Someone here with photoshop skills could use full-length photos of the Breck Girl and Obama, create a digital flyer with images of them wetting their pants, and provide quite an effective caption...... how about “Courageous Democrat ‘Leadership’ Quivers Before Fox News” or “How Can These Guys Face Down Osama When They Wet Their Pants Over Greta Van Sustern?”

I think these weasels have handed the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy an easy victory.........

I love how it’s the one network that dissents that is biased. All the others are “perfectly balanced”.

You know, one of the things I like about President Bush is that if he ran into Michael Moore at a function, he would walk right up to him and say...”Hey! Good to see you. How’s the Buffet.” And everyone would think he was being friendly.

He is just not scared of anyone. These people are weenies.

Fox News is Democrat Kryptonite.

That analogy subtly implies a connection between the Democrats and Superman. I prefer to say that Fox News is the equivalent of garlic and a Cross for the Democrat vampires.

This is amazing, passing up what could amount to free air time with one who might turn out to be popular...but these democrats obviously know nothing about diplomacy and are not willing to make the difficult steps in order to reach out.

but these democrats obviously know nothing about diplomacy

They think consorting with terrorists in Syria constitutes "diplomacy."

The turds are owned by the creeps at Move On and Kos. They will do whatever they think will please their base (and I do mean base).

Lots of LOUD CLUCKING going on. These spineless, bed-wetting wimps haven’t got the guts to appear on a REAL news network. Somebody might ask them a hardball question. They hide behind the liberal media like little kids who don’t want mommy to see they wet their pants...AGAIN!!! And they think they have what it takes to be Pres.?? Not bloody likely.

specific hard question the other media outlets would not dare ask -- followed by a obvious period of dead silence

One of Rush Limbaugh's greatest performances, IMHO, was around 1992 when he appeared on the Phil Donohue program. The audience was packed with liberals, and they asked him all sorts of what they expected to be hard questions, but he consistently nailed them.

I hope that even if no candidates show up for the debate, Fox New still publicizes the questions.

BTW, in the debates before the general election, I'd like the hosts to abandon the pretense of having an unbiased moderator and instead allow each party to select their own. Each moderator would contribute half of the questions for each candidate. If the Democrats think they can find someone who can ask questions the Republicans won't be able to answer, let them have at it.
