But Gregory just did what was expected of him. When the going gets tough, the tough - hey, come back here!

No kidding, honey. Nobody will ever be appearing on the Imus show again, not even Imus.

Two good lines. On a seriouis note, this would be an excellent time to get religion. In the end, when all is against you, who will stand with you if you ask Him? The Lord our God. I do not have a bone to pick in this fight - at least I don't think I do. However, it would be nice if a priest or pastor would contact Imus and say, I forgive you and if you want to talk and pray, here is my number. This reminds me of Duke Cunningham and how nobody stood by him when he went down. It's a troubled world we live in.

That is the extent to which this should have gone.Turn the dial & let the free market determine whether Imus stays or goes. We now travel down the slippery slope of losing freedom of speech & thought while the race pimps create new victims. Here comes the fairness doctrine.

My sentiments exactly.

Hillary Clinton never forgets; never forgives.

Unexpectedly, the Clintons Are Skewered at a Dinner When the Radio-Television Correspondents Association invited Don Imus, the WFAN radio morning man in New York, to be the after-dinner speaker at its annual gala on Thursday night in Washington, members knew how uninhibited his barbs could be. And how well informed; Mr. Imus is as well known for being obsessed with politics as for being a so-called shock jock.

But the correspondents apparently got more than they bargained for when Mr. Imus made fun of President Clinton's supposed extramarital affairs and Hillary Clinton's legal problems -- with both the President and the First Lady sitting on the dais as he spoke.

The remarks were deemed so insulting that the association sent a letter of apology to the Clintons yesterday, and Michael D. McCurry, the President's press secretary, asked C-Span, the cable network that routinely rebroadcasts Washington events, to refrain from retransmitting this one.....

“Barney Frank - another target of Bernie McGuirk’s barbs - used to say that, as a politician, your base isn’t the people who will stand behind you when you’re right, but the people who will stand behind you when you’re wrong. “

Barney would say that wouldn’t he?

Well written and true. Harold Ford Jr. is another for instance.

He really did forget who brought him to the dance, and in his desire to be one of the beautiful people he forgot that long ago. The dogs he liked that gave him fleas ran away without their collar in the end.

Liberals always lie, and liberals are gutless. He should have known that about his liberal “acquaintances” that used him day after day after day.

Will he end up on Satellite? Probably not. If he does, watch him to be even more liberal. He will trample conservatives even more regardless if it is conservatives that support him. Something tells me he will be trying real hard to be one of the beautiful people again. And the dopes on the left cheering Jackson and Sharpton for stifling speech don't realize that they threw away the only somewhat successful liberal outlet on radio. Gosh Liberals are dumb.

Imus wasn't a conservative, but he wasn't a liberal, either.

Nonsense. Scanning the names of his 'favorite' guests and circle of influence...he's the Grand Dragon of the liberal elite.

When DNC rumpswabs explode... it makes for great entertainment. The thing here is to make sure the blast is confined to the scumbag-libs who frequented his show... and NOT let them turn this into a talk-radio witch-hunt.

Just goes to show you that the Good Samaritan was not one of the beautiful people who passed by the person who had been robbed, beaten, and left for dead by thugs. I think this Imus—who was one of the beautiful people until a week or so ago— should tell us something about the beautiful people.

Why should anyone stick up for him? He was paid well to bring in advertisers. When advertisers started to back off, then he became a losing proposition.

Getting paid $10 million should be enough to insure you don’t do anything dumb to jeopardize the “product.”

If the guy has three brain cells working then he has enough stashed away for himself and several generations of his kids, grand kids, great grand kids, etc. to live quite comfortably.

He’ll kick back, write a book and then hit the lecture circuit at six figures a pop.

Also, being that he’s 66, he’ll also collect social security.

I woke up one morning to realize we were in the death grip of the most prolific, broad based and deeply rooted propaganda mechanism in the history of earth. I am not sure we can survive it.

If we do, it won’t be through tepid, “Duke of Queensbury” whimperings about the “dinosaur media” (a myth). This reminds me of the rudimentary “campaigns of criticism” in Red China (another term we don’t hear much) by which it’s citizens were cowed into “correct thought” in the sixties.

This is much more sophisticated and slick, sexy even, possibly inescapable.

Yeah, no kidding! I even heard Chris Core and Mark Levin condemn his firing! While they can’t stand Imus, they see that this set a really bad precedent and expect that Sharpton and Jackson will soon be coming after other talk show hosts, this time on the Conservative front.

The WFAN site already has made the change. Imus is out and the 5-10 time slot is filled with "Diedre Imus & Charles McCord". we'll see how long that lasts.

A shot of the I-man watches over the site like a ghost though.

But the most interesting thing about Imus’ sudden demise is how few of the assorted coatholders, front-runners, bumkissers and drive-by pundits who called in every morning could be bothered to stand up for the I-man in his moment of need.

So true!! All those annoying liberals who made pilgrimages to his show to kiss his ring. Maureen Dowd, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Tim Russert, they all fawned over him. Where are they now?

The only one who stood by him is McCain.

There are free speech issues,

What free speech issues? What government agency was involved in Imus' firing? I don't think even the FCC said anything.

There are concerns that the left may try to use Imus to pass laws curtailing speech, but that has nothing to do with Imus getting canned.

Howie’s probably the saddest one to see the superannuated cokehead sent to Marion Manor. He said his wife was looking forward to “moving on up” to a three bedroom condo in Palm Beach.

Imus was reacting to Howie’s gloating about about the suspension of a certain local plagarism and fabrication artist. The local P&F artist didn’t create the story (far too original for him) he merely goaded Imus into attacking Carr through his wife.

Imus said that Mrs. Carr was doing Riddick Bowe again. Imus made extremely graphic descriptions of the details of the physical relationship between Mrs. Carr and the former boxer. See Howie’s Wikipedia entry for the details. Since Mrs. Carr was not a public person and Imus’ statements were outrageous, false and defamatory, the case was a slam dunk; his insurance company settled out of court. The Dersh handled the case for Howie, BTW.

"Olbermann, I heard, quietly went to his bosses and recommended Imus be fired."

The MSNBC VP guy that was on the other night did mention that the decision was made after hearing grievances from a number of employees. The first two names that crossed my mind were Andrea Mitchell and Nora O'Donnell.

I’m glad that someone else sees what is laying ahead for this country. We are about to see what a Socialist/ Communist State really looks like and everyone would rather look away from it than confront it head on.

If it takes place, the truly most shocked will be the ‘useful idiots’ who helped it take place because they will be the first to be eliminated. The black leadership will be silenced and cowed, the ‘Free Press’ will be under the control of the “government”, their opinions will be the the opinions of “The State”. Talk radio will be taken over and only the view of “The State” will be expressed.

The democrats who have, blindly, been supportive in this socialist/ communist movement will not be exempt either, they have also been ,useful idiots, and their power will be contained and restricted by ‘The State’.

Schools will be nothing but indoctrination centers, it is very close to that now.

America had better wake up and fast, there will no turning back from the destruction of this Republic after it begins in 2008.

Imus made his bed, groveling at he feet of jerks like, Kerry, Russert, Ford, Dodd, Lieberman et al. At his time of need they abandoned him as did MSM. The only people who stood by free speech are folks to the right of center. Poor pathetic Imus kept pleading “I ain’t no right wing racist”. But, the left wing racists led by Messrs. Sharpton & Jackson caused his ultimate demise. Not only did Imus take a hit so did the 1st amendment.
