You know..., one of the biggest killers, these days — is cars. Cars kill so many people. Dontcha think it’s about time to ban cars?
We should tell that to the news media and have them get a clue...

You said — “If this and 9-11 are any indication.........we need to outlaw student visas NOW!”
You’re behind the news on this one. He’s a legal resident alien, having come into this country with his parents, at 8 years old, from South Korea. They would be considered *model* resident aliens (up until their son got whacked in the head, yesterday).
What does that say for your “visas”?

Background: My Mom would not allow guns in the house when I was growing up. Hence, other than firing the obligatory BB Gun in camp, I really have no experience with real guns. Having said that, I have maintained my whole life that gun ownership is a Constitutional right. So if you want to own guns, go ahead! Doesn't bother me!
Which brings to the now. Several years ago Missourians had a chance to vote for a Right to Carry law. I was leaning on voting for it anyway, but the local paper's stories on the law really swayed me over to pro-gunhood. In the articles the anti-gun lobby were all chicken littles. Using scare tactics . . .This will happen if you do this. What about this scenario . . .you get my gist. Meanwhile the pro-gun articles were clearly and concisely written; complete with statics and breakdowns.
Needless to say, ever since that day I voted FOR the CCW in Missouri is the day that I been a vocal supporter of the Second Amendment.
Which just might come in handy since I have decided if the Dimwits gain the White House and retain control of Congress, I just might have to go buy myself a nice little gun for protection . . .
I think I'd take my chances in Virginia.
(1) They were forbidden to possess weapons on campus.
(2) A professor did confront the murderer and probably saved lives.
Bloomberg’s disarmament group. There is a complete list of anti-gun mayors on this site .

kt56 — Do you think you could come along and help me pick up a nice little gun with suitable firepower?
You said — “I actually find it more telling that not a single student was willing or able to defend himself and his classmates. Instead, they all relegated themselves to hiding under a desk and waiting for the fatal bullet to come. So much for the liberal theory that were all safer if were helpless.”
That’s not true. I was reading the blog of a student there whose girlfriend was in that building and did act to defend the other students and got shot and was in the hospital because of it.
AND — I doubt that what you’re saying is true, overall. Some people will be heroes and others not. Acting heroically is not a common trait. So, don’t try looking for it in everyone. You’re not gonig to find it in the population at large.
So, for your information - there have *already* been identified heroes in that saga yesterday...

my 8 year old grandson loves guns. His other grandparent is a gunsmith so he has always been around them. He drawers them all the time, he has tons of plastic guns, he will use a stick to make it a gun, he likes gun magazines... it has me thinking that in todays times it is just not something that is too risky to even admit.
Your number is way, way off.
There were 86 murders in 2007 as of March 25.
I doubt 193 people have been murdered in the past 22 days.
It would have made the news.
What we really need to do is ban murder.
...what do you mean Va has laws against murder? So what are you saying, laws don’t necessarily work????
Whenever I read about something like this, whether it is some guy named Mohamed or some guy from Mexico, I remember the Mariel boat-lift. Fidel Castro emptied his insane asylums and his jails and dumped all the scum of Cuba onto the United States. I wonder if other countries aren't employing that as a model for similar tactics to weaken us.
Also, a student’s blog (at the university) states that his girlfriend acted to save some of her classmate in holding a door closed, too — while the gunman was firing through it. She was wounded (somewhat minor), although if he had aimed slightly down, he would have killed her. She prevented him from coming into their classroom. She’s currently in the hospital.
There were people who acted valiantly. So, no, this is not “telling”... There are those who acted heroically.

Yup. Had to shut’er down myself. I want to know information, not the same old tiresome kabuki theatre that happens every time, entirely too often. America loves victims, and this episode produced a bumper new crop. I heard both Shep Smith and, of all people, Brit Hume describe the events of the day as ‘extraordinary’, which is not the word I would have chosen.

To be added or removed from this list, please FReepmail me!!!
I have a friend who tried to keep her young son from having toy guns.....he would make his Bread (sandwiches) into guns.....
The thing is is that some libbies are trying to ban cars right now under the guize of preventing “Gorebull warming”
Yes, Virginia, tyrannical governments kill even more innocents.
