Editorial: Second Amendment kills dozens in attack (Barf Alert)
The Minnesota Daily ^ | April 19, 2007 | Adri Mehra

the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, drafted in 1789, reads:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

But what happens when the very "security of a free State" is directly infringed by "the right of the people to keep and bear Arms?"

That, my friends, is known as a contradiction in terms, and in the science of logic, a statement that goes on to deny itself becomes inherently false.

There is no contradiction because the security of the state would be put in the most serious danger by the abolition of the second amendment protection of the right to self reliance and self defense. Moreover, the immediate result of a successful attempt to abolish the right to bear arms would spark a civil war which would make our first look like a picnic. And, remember that more Americans died in the first battle than have died in this Iraq war.

I think we should just pass a law against murder. I mean if it were against the law to murder all those college Cho wouldn’t have done his awful act. We have to prevent the next tragedy like this from occuring, and I think that if we pass a law against murder these kind of things wouldn’t happen

When britain was in danger of being invaded by Hitler, they begged American civilians for guns, and private citizens in the US responded by sending thousands of guns to britain. They were never returned.

The “security of a free state” is not put at risk by the actions of a single madman with a gun. The premise is faulty.

While what you say is true of most Glock models, including the one used by Cho, I have read that the first Glock model, the G17, was named after the magazine capacity.

I've heard that too, but I believe it's incorrect.

The designation 17 is derived from the gun's being Gaston Glock's 17th patent, rather than its magazine capacity.

The source is HERE.

I see that he forgot to mention that Virginia Tech was:

A. A gun-free zone and

B. A law enforcement-free zone (for at least 2 hours that day)

Oh, and

C. Larry Hincker, VT mouthpiece, had the dead students' backs.

Which is why they're not around to thank Larry...

The day will come where these people will be prosecuted for trying to violate our Constitution. We will suffer more before that day comes... but that day is coming.

It's time we shot down the Second Amendment.

My gut reaction is that he'd prefer it be replaced by a Gay Rights Amendment.
