This guy is a Republican in NY simply because he is slightly to the right of Marx. The democrat contenders are probably to the left of Marx.
“I still do not know why he is not a DemoRat.”
He once was. He changes political parties like he changes wives. Whenever it suits him.
“Very well stated. You have Rudy perfectly bracketed. I still do not know why he is not a DemoRat.”
The Democratic party has enough problems without getting stuck with yet another socialist. :-)
I can answer that. The Dems are SO far to the left that Rudy is an arch-conservative to them. He doesn't have much choice. Bloomberg declared as a Republican only because he had to in order to follow Rudy.
I don't go back far enough to know anything about Rudy's "conversion" when he changed from Democrat to Republican, but it has been my experience from either watching other liberal Republicans or checking out their histories, that most reach that "conversion" not due to any epiphany or change of beliefs, but because they want to run for some office and discover their path is blocked by another individual who either refuses to retire, die, leave office, or some other person has a better claim on the office once it is open and up for grabs. Specter's change to RINO is an example of this.
