Photo Gallery HOLLYWOOD - Actor Alec Baldwin is taking legal action to find out who leaked an answering-machine message rant he left for his 11-year-old daughter to Web site TMZ.com.
Baldwin has filed Order to Show Cause papers in Los Angeles Superior Court to find out why his ex-wife Kim Basinger and her lawyers should not be held in contempt.
The papers, filed by Baldwin's lawyer Vicki Greene, state: "Petitioner (Basinger) is the only parent with custody, possession and control of the minor child's telephone voicemail message that was dissemination to (TMZ.com founder) Harvey Levin and TMZ.com.
"I do not know how Mr. Levin received any information about the court proceeding that was closed to the public, but again, it had to come from someone connected to the proceeding, and it was not me."
TMZ.com is refusing to comment on how it obtained the recording, in which Baldwin verbally chastises his daughter and calls Basinger "a thoughtless pain in the a*s."
Baldwin's visitation rights for his daughter were temporarily suspended by a California judge earlier this week, after a judge heard the recording.
So he’s gonna make an even bigger ass of himself in court.
He should not leave messages like that to children.
Alec Baldwin seems to be a very angry man. I feel sorry for his daughter. Poor little girl is being put in the middle by her selfish, abusive parents. I’m sure there is plenty of blame on BOTH sides of the aisle in this mess, but there is no excuse whatsoever for someone to talk that way to a child.

Any “father” who has expressed that level of obvious hatred for his own child should not be allowed unsupervised visitation.

If that child were mine you can be sure I would do everything in my power to keep her father FAR FAR away from her.

How does one “leak” a message someone left for someone else? It’s not copyrighted or anything. Someone leaves me a message, it’s mine to do what I want with, unless I agree in advance otherwise.

Alec Baldwin is a tremendously talented man. He is the kind of actor who could make me believe anything. I really wish I’d never known any of his personal side. This is sad and cheap and very bad for the child.
I think that Kim took the message to the judge to try to keep him away from Ireland (the girl, not the country). The judge ordered it sealed on April 11 so that it would not be made public. Someone leaked it to the media. I wouldn’t blame Kim for doing it to try to protect her daughter from the maniac dad. But I would suspect that someone at the court who had access might have done it.
Just out of curiosity I’d love to know how many guns Baldwin possess.

I agree with you on that! I don’t blame Kim Basinger one bit for doing everything to keep this man away from her daughter. He is one sick puppy!
But I do blame her for having children by a man that clearly has some problems with his temper. I cannot believe that she didn’t see any of this before she had children with him. This is what kills me sometimes. A woman stays with an abusive man - THEN - she has children with that man & sometime down the road you see her in court hauling out all of these accusations that he is abusive to her children!
