We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.
One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to rule over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.
All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.
FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?
Do you really expect me to do that?
Whoever we put on the ‘08 ticket, we can’t allow it to be Rudy.
Gigantic bump and thank you!
If the GOP runs Rudy, then conservatives should RUN from the GOP. I’ve never been an advocate of independant candidates but this time might be the first.
I miss George Allen.
Bump.
After a few guidance seminars you will see the light.
I hope not. But thankfully that's a choice we won't need to make; Rudy's already hit his high water mark. It's all downhill from here.
I am a Republican only insofar as they are conservatives, and not when they are not.
If the GOP nominates a pro-abortion gungrabbing liberal, they forfeit my vote, and that result is not my fault, but theirs.
I’ve never voted for a gungrabbing pro-abortion liberal, and I’m not about to start now.
My favorite Rudy posts are the “we are the Borg” ones. Resistance is futile! You will be absorbed!
Will FR embrace Hillary instead, removing any chance of getting another conservative on the court?
Does this place have a front door?
Thank you JimRob....This needs to be addressed, and there’s no one more qualified to start the debate than you.
I’m for Fred, Jim! Voted.
I know you won't. Nor will this conservative.
Thanks, Jim, for all you do for the conservative cause!
If the Republican primary voters choose Giuliani, I will vote for him, as his presumptive opponent is Hillary.
I’m unaffiliated, so I will not be one of those voters. But I would vote for a trained chimpanzee if it meant keeping Hillary out of the White House.
And for what it’s worth, I do not believe Giuliani is a socialist. Say what you will about the guy’s position on social issues, but he has a record of success as NY Mayor that is pretty darned impressive.
"Come, have some cocoa and cookies. It's nice in here."
Allow me to speak as a young guy here Jim...it was the Ronaldus Magnus after all who said that “freedom is never more than a generation away from becoming extinct”. Now, keep in mind that I’m fully aware of the fact that the MSM will attack and lambaste any GOP candidate that comes across the plate...
...but why Rudy? Maybe I’m holding out for Fred Thompson, but the electorate will rue the day that we’re expected to choose between Rudy and Hillary.
Decididng who looks better in a slip does not a presidential race make.
The first priority for any conservative must be to stop the hijacking of the Republican party by Ghouliani and leftist elements within the GOP that want to turn it into a Democratic-lite party. If we lose that battle, the general election in 2008 will be meaningless and it will be eight years before a conservative could reach the White House.
I’m a Hunter man.
The GOP enthusiastically supported Arnold....and now Rudy’s the front runner....
I don’t thing the party has learned the lesson of 2006 yet.
Hell no!!
This is the forum that largely chose Alan Keyes as the presidential candidate in 2000 so I’m not terribly worried that they don’t like Rudy. LOL
I agree. Rudy is overrated and wasn’t to be feared to begin with. He won’t get the nomination. But the Rudywars threads are pure classics.
Some will tell you (or browbeat you) into thinking we can only win with a lib rino.
A RESOUNDING NO on both counts. Let's join together for Conservatism and a Conservative Candidate. Let's not settle for what the media/social intelligentsia want us to settle for.
So are you saying conservative ideals don’t have a snowballs chance in hell.
Are you espousing the “anybody but Hillary” campaign. What if the dem candidate happens to be Obama...then is it anybody but Obama.
Why not just vote for anybody then.
Like it or not, the candidates preferred by this board Fred Thompson, Newt Gingrich, Duncan Hunter, et al are certain losers.
So, does perfect become the enemy of as good as we're likely to get?
Will you embrace Rudy Giuliani when he is the exact same thing as Hillary on all of the above listed issues?
I know you to be a loyal Republican. The fact that Rudy is affecting you and other loyalists this way tells me that for the first time in modern politics, the GOP runs the risk of allowing a true third party threat to take shape in 2008. They won’t be able to win but it will ensure a Hillary presidency. She must be loving the idea of a Rudy nomination.
In the latest FR poll, Giuliani is only getting about 6-7% of members' opinion. The vast majority of us are NOT on board with Rudy the RINO. I would vote third party before I would vote for a pro-abort, pro-homo candidate who doesn't understand the Constitution.
80%? You're obviously not talking about Rudy.
No! Nor will I!!!
I’d long for 75%. Hell, Rudy isn’t even 25% of what I want and he’s 100% of what I outright reject!
Despite the global warming B.S., hell has yet to freeze over, so NO, Rudi does not get my vote. Only when hell has frozen over will Rudi, McScream or any other Marxist LIBERAL get my vote!!!
Well......you supported Arnold over the Conservative McClintock. So I'll believe it when I see it.
You are delusional if you think Rudy would appoint a conservative to the court.
But the republican still won in 2000, and he wasn’t a liberal.
And I don’t know what you mean by “I’m not terribly worried”. If you don’t care what people here think, why keep posting pro-rudy stuff at all? If you DO care, why do you care if you don’t respect our opinion?
And if you don’t respect anybody’s opinion, why do you bother being here at all?
Jim supported Alan Keyes? News to me.
FR should thank Hillary for exposing Rudy.
if?
That barn door has been opened
Just depends on how mamy d'rats and RINO's can get in before conservatives shut the door
No.
God Bless.
No way! I would expect you to keep up the good fight!
Thanks for the encouraging post. It has been quite alarming to me how many self-proclaimed conservatives are willing to sacrifice their deeply held beliefs and principles to support a candidate that is more palatable to the left. I just don't understand that at all.
At this point it’s Fred for me. He’s electable, and he seems to pass Ronald Reagan’s 80% rule.
So you prefer Hillary, then?
Because that's the choice you know; a not-so-socially-conserevative Republican or another eight years of the Clintons.
