Global warming is the real deal, not 'Hollywood' myth, sez McCain
NY Daily News ^ | Tuesday, April 24th 2007 | Richard Sisk

Posted on 04/24/2007 8:08:04 AM PDT by presidio9

Without exactly being like Mike, Sen. John McCain yesterday join-ed Mayor Bloomberg in calling global warming a reality to be dealt with by weaning the U.S. off Mideast oil.

"The world is already feeling the powerful effects of global warming," McCain said in calling for caps on carbon emissions, and "the problem isn't some Hollywood invention."

The Arizona Republican did not directly address Bloomberg's environmental plan, which includes $8 tolls on cars south of 86th St. But a McCain spokesman said the mayor and the senator were in sync on facing up to a greenhouse gas effect that many in the GOP deny.

Much of the McCain plan echoed proposals favored by President Bush for increases in the production of ethanol, nuclear power and hybrid cars.

But McCain also urged a system of credits for industries that "set reasonable caps on carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions." The credits could be traded for a profit to encourage the development of greener technologies, he said.

The energy speech was the third in a series of major addresses by McCain leading up to the "official" announcement of his White House campaign in New Hampshire tomorrow.

Could say he is old enough to know global warming when he sees it since he has seen many such cycles. However, he is not qualified to speak to science even though in a position to influence legislative action.

It's been warming for 12,000 years now, John, ever since the end of the last Ice Age.

One of these days this interglacial will end and the next Ice Age will begin.

Global cooling will kill orders of magnitudes more people than global warming. What do you propose we do about global cooling, Mr. McKeating?

Climate change is the real deal as it has been for hundreds of millions of years before man walked the earth and as it will continue to be for hundreds of millions of years after man is extinct.

These guys can’t get GOOD legislation through Congress to battle people crossing our borders illegally WHICH WE KNOW IS A PROBLEM, yet these good-for-nothings can sit on their thrones and babble on about something that they have FAR less control over IF it in fact is a problem.

I AM DONE! Someone ping me when this nightmare is over.

Another reason to NOT vote for McCain.

Global warming, in whatever iteration it is now, has nothing to do with PEOPLE. It has to do with climate, it has to do with the sun.

This planet is a very tiny speck of dust in an infinite universe. We’re an insignificant nothing out of all of it, and what happens here is dictated solely by the star we call Sol.

As people we have bigger problems than worrying about what the climate is going to do to change. We have an intelligent species on this planet (US) who, no matter what happens to this planet are doomed to die here if we do not use our heads and move on into space.

We don’t know for sure we aren’t the ONLY intelligence species anywhere in this area of our galaxy and we ought to be moving off this planet ANYWAY.

Will it happen? Not in my lifetime, but perhaps in my great-grand children’s time. Until then, we have wars going on, and basic human rights being taken from us on a daily basis by Leftists who are bent on preventing us from defending ourselves, making us dependent upon the government and far worse, ignoring terrorism.

It’s time for a change alright, but NOT to someone like McCain.

Al Gore already has a market on carbon credits. He creates them with a company he owns and sells them to himself.

Next, McCain will be pushing for toilet paper credits for those who use more than 1 sheet per visit.

How anyone can support a person for leader of the free-world who buys into this man-made global warming nonesense is beyond me.

Thinking that man has more power than the earth is the delusions of a mental patient. And instantly disqualifies that person in my book from holding public office or sharp objects.

Also, does anyone have a list of Republican candidates who have given the time of day to this pseudo-scientific tripe?

McCain, Newt... no nomination for YOU!

Yes, but the Treaty has been affirmed in court (Chicom court, but still legal) which means that government will do the moving, which means we should not hold our breath.

McCain's poor political judgment is amazing. Giuliani is the clear favorite of the moderate, country club wing of the party. His track record of alienating conservatives, especially the Christian Right, is well known and long established. His only hope is to move rightward, to encroach on the center-right territory that Romney is trying to win and that Thompson would take in a heartbeat should he choose to run. Yet he is bleating about global warming, an issue all conservative factions deride as, in McCain's own words, a Hollywood invention.

I doubt McCain's Presidential campaign will survive this year, or even this summer. The money will dry out, and his wife's family, while wealthy, does not have the deep pockets that Teresa Heinz Kerry has.

Just when McCain says something appealing he goes and sticks his foot in it. I think we should pledge not to vote for someone who believes the Global Warming crap. It is crap from every angle. It is a fiction and it will be the tool our malicious politicians use to extract our economic freedoms from us and destroy the economy of this great nation. I’m tired of mincing words. This stuff is serious. These people are crazy, they say things about the Climate that any person with five minutes to check can prove false but people don’t check. They get hysterical. Global warming is the answer of the left to the War on Terror. We can’t even predict something significantly less complex like the stock market where we have a much greater understanding of the moving parts and they want us to believe their “models” are able to predict climate and disasters for the next 100 years? All I know is the times in the past when the Earth warmed life improved considerably. The only danger to humanity we face is our desire to maintain our false belief that our climate and environment should be in stasis. It never has and it never will be. We would do better to learn to live with it.

Well, McCain didn’t have much of a chance for the GOP nomination. Maybe could have been the bottom half of the ticket. That was, until he drank deeply of the global warming koolaid.

BTW, McCain, you clueless bureaucrat, have you been paying attention to MIT? They are coming out with good data that shows human caused global warming IS Hollywood claptrap. But I’m sure you know more about science than the good peoplpe at MIT — NOT!!!

That's the cool part about our side. We will try even the STUPID ideas just to see. Then we can say, "Yep. Tried it. Doesn't work."

The left just spouts off remarks without ever really seeing what happens and then come to phony conclusions.

McCain thought that his campaign finance bill would clean up politics. His judgement has proven to be very bad.

The global warming pods have taken him.

The real question is not whether or not the earth is warming, but whether or not that warming is caused by humans, if it is truly the catastrope the adherents of the Church of Environmentalism make it out to be, and if governments should force people to do things against their will that won't slow down the warming, anyway.

Four hundred million years ago the entire planet was sheathed in ice even the tropical zones. All that survived was algae.

Yeh. Now, they are altering the terminology to allow for either contingency: it is now global climate change.

Ironically, global climate change has been occurring twice a year -- heat up, then cooling down -- since Mother Nature started the planet spinning.

And if one takes time to actually look at the data themselves, such as the Vostok ice cores and the repeating cycles they show, instead of taking the lazy route and listening to the propaganda being spewed by the Profit Owl Gore, it might not be all that long before we enter another ice age. I wonder what the Libs are going to like best about an ice sheet two miles thick covering Chicago? Osama Obama to the rescue!

The only danger to humanity

Ahhh, but they don't care about humanity. They incite fear because that's what they love to do. Global warming will cause Mother Earth to be injured or polar bears to die. It is NOT about what happens to us. Liberals, Socialists, Communists, Stalinists, Leninists, Nazis, Marxists, and Islamists have all demostrated that they do NOT care what happens to us. Liberals enjoy using fear to pass crappy laws to control our lives.
