April 24, 2007 (RFE/RL) -- A disturbing video of a young boy beheading a Pakistani hostage has shocked and angered the Afghan public and international observers since it began circulating several days ago. Rights activists condemned the use of a child in the execution as "new low" -- even for an extremist group like the Taliban. I wish it would make prime-time news. A good portion of America has been lulled into forgetting who the enemy is and how he behaves. HBO has Guantanamo documentaries, but will never go near something like this on the other side. It just doesn’t fit the anti-war agenda.

I can't speak for anyone else,but *I* need to see this for the same reason I need to see,from time to time,the films of folks jumping from the 98th story of the WTC...I need to be reminded periodically of exactly what we're up against with this 9th Century death cult call the Religion of Pieces.
The branches of the tree of Islam have been chopped off, and are falling down a well of travesty, with no bottom or Imam in sight. Deeper and darker, and falling at an accelerating rate.

Some things can't be fully understood unless witnessed. I've seen a lot of the beheading and execution videos from the muslim world, and now I have a hard time looking at muslims as quite fully human. I won't describe the things I saw, but such things are seldom done in the contemporary Western world. There are aberrations such as the Holocaust and continued use of the guillotine by the French. Civilization advances in the West, but many parts of the Eastern world are rushing headlong into the barbaric past.
Actually, you make a good point. This has more to do with national security than the VT nutball.
Better to see it now, on film than to see it up close and personal.

I would force myself to see that video, just as I would force myself to view unedited video of the 911 mass murder.
There is simply no other way for the reality of the evil we're facing to sink in; and to react appropriately.
To not do that is to forever succumb to the subconscious cognitive dissonance, that it's too horrible to be true. It's simply an exaggeration in the geopolitical war...
