Fred Thompson, lawyer, lobbyist, actor, former Senator has two things going for him if (when) he seeks the Republican nomination for President. First, he has impeccable conservative credentials which he has not seemed to ever have compromised, even during his time in office. Second, Fred Thompson's physical appearance, his gravely, southern drawl, and his body language make him the very personification of "Mr. President" as if he had been found in central casting.
In fact, Fred Thompson's film and television career has displayed his talents in the role of wielder of government power. He has played a CIA Director, White House Chief of Staff, a Navy Admiral (twice) and is currently a district attorney in the long running series, Law and Order. In each of his roles he has presented the kind of gravitas that would be reassuring in a real life President of the United States.
This scene illustrates the great conundrum of the liberal woman. On the one hand they don't like right wing men, as they suspect that they get up in the morning plotting to take away their right to an abortion. On the other hand, it is the post 9/11 world and these left wing females know that the metrosexual, caring, in touch with their feeling men that they prefer to sleep with will be incapable of defending either them or their children should Al Qaeda comes to call. For that they need John Wayne, or Dirty Harry, or--Fred Dalton Thompson.
Indeed, whom would you rather have as President if it came to past that Al Qaeda was about to set off a nuclear bomb in your town? Hillary Clinton? Or a man like Fred Thompson, who has played Admirals and prosecutors, and could be President of the United States.

Being prez is high stress. Even Dick Cheney with his heart condition knows this. Fred’s got medical problems. High stress could bring back that cancer faster than a hair grows on a canine. Fred, like Dick, would be high risk as prez even though I would prefer Dick Cheney as prez.
“Fred Thompson: Can Another Actor Become President?”
I am convinced being an actor should be required to be President.
RUN FRED RUN
So, now this question comes to mind: When is Fred going to announce his candidacy? Time is fleeting.
He had a career before he became an actor. Lawyer, but I don’t hold that against him.
Considering that Rudy, McCain, Kerry, etc. are all cancer survivors, they would be equally, as you put it, at risk of cancer returning.
That’s right and none are prez at the moment. But all are equally unreliable.
Git ‘er done, Fred.
Central casting found Martin Sheen, That sucks.
I will vote for Fred Thompson as he seems to have the qualities I want.
Rudy and John McCain had cancer too. I’m sure JC Watts will be a wonderful VP under Thompson to relieve the stress.
..sure, if he or she has political substance beyond the Hollywood or MSM name recognition...
“Im sure JC Watts will be a wonderful VP”
I am liking the sound of that ticket more and more.
The age old question. Who do you want answering the phone at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue at 2 AM when bad things happen?
GOT MY VOTE!!!!!!!!and my money!
In the future, only actors will be President. The sheeple just love someone on tv with an hour show.
Indolent lymphomas are among the most treatable sort of cancer with recurrance rates that are low. Even if recurrance happens, it can be brought under control again and relatively easily.
Nobody knows what the future holds. Any pres could develop a medical condition or have one exacerbate at any point. As others have pointed out, other GOP candidates have had cancer.
But you see, they are “candidates” being the operable word. If I had my choice as prez, it would be Dick Cheney but his heart couldn’t take it. And he knows it.
BE NOT MISLED-—WE’LL WIN WITH FRED
