I got you both, but there are a lot of FReepers that have been here longer.

More shoddy reporting!

"Huckabee was arrested for carrying a weapon in a prohibited place at about 6 a.m."

They didn't bother to tell us "about what time" it's OK to carry a weapon.

Fortunate son...If he had been anyone else, but Ex Gov. Huckabee's son, THIS would have been considered a major security incident at our Airport.

Wonder if he's read his father's book yet?

Mrs Lou Dobbs did it last year. Never heard one more word about it.

Spent brass is prohibited??? For God’s sake why? Those deep thinkers at the TSA think it might strike up a casual conversation with a bullet and some powder and a primer and they might assemble themselves into a live round?

You should have been there the last time I took my favorite cigar cutter with me. It’s a spent .44 mag case. (I pack it in my checked luggage now.) The TSA lackey was looking inside it, turning it every which way, (I don’t know if he was looking for wires, plutonium, or what...) until he finally gave up and called his supervisor. That guy must be a fellow cigar smoker because he ID’d it from 20 feet away. “It’s a cigar cutter!” he shouted and then he spun around and stomped back to his office. Deputy Fife handed the cutter back to me and I got on board. Boy, did I feel safe!

I used to work for the white shirted agency that picks these things up and generally annoys people at the airport. We used to get on average about 1 gun every 30-45 days. The excuses were amazing. Usually it was “I forgot it was there”. One time it was “I thought I could carry my gun with me” ???. Another time it was in a lock box inside the carry on. The local PD did not have a sense of humor and you did not make your flight. You were lucky if you made bail.

Give him a fine and community service. I have no problem with that. Fine. Whatever.

I do have a problem with this:

David Huckabee's gun permit was seized and given to the Arkansas State Police

By what authority can they revoke a GOD GIVEN right from a FREE MAN? Answer: They can't. It's our duty to ignore unjust and immoral laws. I hope he keeps carrying for freedom's sake.

Thanks. I didn’t know if it had simply been dropped or what. Be interesting to see if Webb lets him take the fall without any move to help him.

Eight years ago, Mike Huckabee wrote a book "When Kids Kill"..Not long after that, David Huckabee was at Boy Scout Camp and Shot and Hung a "stray" dog. He was what? 17 or 18?

I think David was old enough to know better than to do this to a dog back then and I don't know what he was thinking presently.

It's clear he's irresponsible with guns..

That might be the case, but no free man shall be debarred the use of arms. You can’t deny someone an unalienable right. Well, morally you can’t.

Also, remember to check your pockets. (Ya got any empty brass in the pocket of that coat you wore last hunting season??)

Very good advice. This guy I know forgot to check his jacket pocket before a recent airplane ride, and discovered 3 duty rounds when he went to retreive his parking stub to exit the lot after his trip. Went through the x-ray machine twice, and no one noticed the .45's sitting there....Word was his first thought was "whew, that was sure dumb, and am I ever glad the TSA goons weren't paying attention", and his second thought was "holy crap! Those guys are worthless!"

I don’t think that it was ever proven that David killed or hung that dog.

I don’t think it’s unfair to say he is clearly “irresponsible” with guns. He forgot he left his pistol in his bag. That could happen to anyone (who regularly carries a gun).
