Prince William is the next in line after Charles. Harry is the back up prince.

Ya gotta respect the man, doncha? Prince Harry may turn out to the best of them. Remember how the British press treated him as a joke and built up his brother. Harry could do nothing right and Wills could do nothing wrong. Good luck to this young man.

His uncle served in the Falklands war.
I am not surprised that they would take specially good care of the heir. Usually it is the second son who gets to have a military career. In some ways kind of sad that Austria Hungary didn’t, giving the vicious parties the excuse they needed to begin WWI.

“but I believe that Prince William is next in line.”
Which is why he didn’t join the service.

I beg to differ; Prince William is also a member of the Military. Graduated Sandhurst (British Officer initial training school (equivalent to US OCS), just like his younger bother.

It’s ironic for me to say this... but I think that Harry might be the classier of the two. (He still needs to learn to control the drinking though). Frankly, I think that William’s a cad for fondling random women at nightclubs and probably sleeping with them when he was in a serious relationship.
A few more comments...
- It wouldn’t shock me if the Queen outlived Prince Charles.. Considering how long her mother lived, she has a good thirty years left.
- I was quite shocked that the British Army was going to let Harry serve in Iraq, so the wavering doesn’t surprise me. Not only would he be at a higher risk than the average soldier (Al Qaeda would LOVE to get such a high value target), but he’d also be putting the lives of the men he is commanding at greater risk.

Prince William deferred his military service for a time to get his Masters degree.

Just a question: Why do you think Prince Harry is classier than Prince William?
Not meant to be a point of argument, just a question.

Be sure you read the second paragraph. lol From Prince Charles' biography ... he became acquainted with a young woman by the name of Camilla Shand. Still somewhat isolated and lonely, the Prince found in Camilla something of a kindred spirit. The affair, however, ended almost before it began, as the Prince was due to begin five years of military service. Soon after his departure, the Prince heard of Camilla’s engagement to Andrew Parker-Bowles. Yet it proved difficult for the Prince to put the matter from his mind. Over the next five years, Charles was committed to the military forces. Within that time, he graduated from a Sub Lieutenant to Captain of his own ship. Although not the ablest of seamen, he proved himself kind and thoughtful and was known for running a very happy ship. After five years, however, still blighted by homesickness, he was glad to end his service. His freedom was not without complications, however. Cast ashore at the age of 28 without a job or a clearly defined role, the Prince of Wales’s thoughts, as did those of his family and the nation, turned slowly to marriage.

Sorry but I have no clue where my paragraphs went. Here’s the funny bit for the bio of Charles.

Personally I don’t think it makes sense to send him. He would be a gigantic target and would put every single man under his command under substantially greater risk. Every jihadi in Iraq would be after that unit. I’m sure they can find another man who can lead the unit as effectively. Keep Harry safely out of harms way for his mens sake.

Sounds like the Brits ought to give the the moniker of Richard or maybe Plantagenet

What's good is the Royal family if they are not willing to fight for their nation?
When Prince Harry comes back from Iraq, he should be crowned as the next King, everyone knows that England needs someone with balls.

Every jihadi in Iraq would be after that unit Harry should volunteer for the SAS ... that would be an interesting Royal.

Well Harry appears to be a man. His uncle Andrew was a man. We are not sure what his father is.Well we know what he want to be:
Charles: "Or, God forbid, a Tampax (tampon). Just my luck!" Camilla: "You are a complete idiot! Oh, what a wonderful idea."

:You don’t understand. Prince Harry is a national symbol.”
And what happens when his head is blown off? The jihadis will be sending everything they have against his unit. If there is a target on him that means his unit is targeted which means they will be facing a good deal more danger just so the prince can play soldier. I know his intentions are good but it isn’t fair to put the lives of the rest of his men in far greater danger.
