The Democrats have a long history of treating fringe candidates with zero chance of being nominated as if they were serious contenders--Jerry Brown, Carol Moseley Braun, Al Sharpton, Dennis Kucinich, etc.

Karl Marx has a line in his short book The Eighteenth Brumaire of Louis Napoleon to the effect that everything in history happens twice, the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce (which he claims to be taken from Hegel, but it isn't). The 'Rats are still reliving the glory years of the defeat in Vietnam and the hounding of Nixon from office, so they want to repeat that with Iraq and GWB.

Mike Gravel should make the Potted Plant his symbol. At all campaign appearances he should place a large potted plant on stage with him to demonstrate how MSNBC has shunned him. So far, little attention has been paid to him. However, with the Potted Plant shtick, I think he could get some great publicity from this.

Well, I recommended that Tom Vilsack "Wear the Bear" when he first announced. What happened is that I found a pic of Vilsack wearing a Winnie the Pooh Bear. I recommended on his blog and in the DUmmie FUnnies that he simply "Wear the Bear" at all his campaign appearances to generate buzz. He didn't take my advice and was the first Democrat to drop out of the race.

I am now recommending that Mike Gravel make the Potted Plant his symbol of protest of his mistreatment by MSNBC. At all campaign appearances, he should place a potted plant on stage with him.

The Democrats have a long history of treating fringe candidates with zero chance of being nominated as if they were serious contenders--Jerry Brown, Carol Moseley Braun, Al Sharpton, Dennis Kucinich, etc.

They do it to placate their various fringe constituencies, which are becoming less fringe and more mainstream.

They are using the same template. They have already done terrible damage with the passage of the bill announcing to the enemy that we will be withdrawing on a date certain and the war is lost. The enemy, the Iraqi government and people, and the countries in the region are watching closely. And to use the words of that "great patriot" JF**King Kerry, "How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake? Congress has sent a devastating message to our troops in the field, i.e., your sacrifice has been in vain, you are a defeated military, and any future death/injury prior to our total withdrawal will be worthless and unnecessary.

Both sides are now playing chicken with the funding bill and the Dems hold the upper hand. Bush will not get a clean funding bill. The WH and Congress will have to make face-saving compromises on both sides so each can claim victory. However, the damage is done.

I never even knew of his existence until the debate last night. It was actually refreshing seeing liberal democrat that was at least honest with us about who he was and what he stood for. lol

Vilsack has thrown his “considerable” support to Hillary.

Obama is the Howard Dean of 2008. It will only take a few primary results for Hillary to squash him.

There is always the chance that Vilsack could end up as Hillary’s VP choice—the more obvious picks have negative baggage (Richardson) or would outshine her (Obama), plus she may decide she needs a non-Hispanic white male on the ticket, and Vilsack would probably help carry Iowa and perhaps Wisconsin and Minnesota, all of which have been won by narrow margins in recent elections.

Gravel is the comic relief. The court jester for the Queen [Hillary] and her court.

By January 2008 the Democrat primary voters may think of Obama as a blend of Marion Barry and Simon Legree, thanks to behind-the-scene work from the Hillary camp which everyone will blame on the nasty Republicans.

Possibly. The only reason to pick Obama would be to increase black turnout. Hillary already has the black vote locked up. Richardson has some baggage, but he has some national recognition, is Hispanic [the largest and fastest growing minority], and foreign policy experience. He adds “gravitas” to the ticket. I can’t stomach Richardson for his recent touring of the USS Pueblo so as not to offend his North Korean hosts. He is also an insufferable windbag.

The DUmmies probably love this guy. DUFU fodder?

No, Mike isn’t a legitimate candidate. MSNBC has no duty to cater to candidates who have no chance at even minor success.
