It's more than a woman thing - Fonda, Steinem join forces to influence media coverage

A feminist dream team is doing its best to get more women's views into the news. Old friends Gloria Steinem and Jane Fonda visited the Sun-Times Wednesday as new business partners in the New York-based Women's Media Center. They want to serve as a resource for journalists, they said, and influence the coverage of issues critical to women.

And it's all critical, noted Steinem. "Every issue is a woman's issue," she told the Sun-Times editorial board.

There aren't just two sides to every story, she said, although cable news has gotten into the habit of scheduling two (male) talking heads to debate the pros and cons. An issue is more likely to have at least seven sides, said Steinem; and the nonprofit Women's Media Center was created to help the media tell "the rest of the story."

Oh, great. Hanoi Jane and the former Playboy bunnie directing the media. How Jane Fonda can show her face is publib is beyond me.

They’re joining forces to influence media coverage??? LOL, what, our news media isn’t enough like North Korea’s for them in its single viewpoint coverage?? You can’t move the US news media any further left than they already are without them falling off the map altogether!

These two leather-skinned ex-women don’t realize how irrelevant they are....or maybe they do and that’s the reason for this publicity grab.

1. Actually, Fox frequently has panels of four or five people. Often, when there are just two people debating, they are both women.

2. As if there's a lack of liberal women in major news organizations and TV talk - Katie Couric, Oprah, Helen Thomas, Marianne Means, Ellen Goodman, Froma Harrop, Maureen Dowd, the late Molly Ivins, Ariana Huffington, Barbara Walters, Paula Zahn, and on and on. Most major newspapers have several women on their editorial boards, and they are almost always liberals.

3. The idea that special efforts need to be taken to make sure that the liberal point of view gets included is laughable on its face.

So, who the Raiders are drafting first overall is now a Woman's Issue?

Man, I thought it was just Sith Lord Al's issue.

Look for them on the Sunday talk shows next....the only ‘woman’s issue’ they ever talk about it ‘the right to choose’ (aka abortion).

"further left"

ditto. The media is already dangling from the left side of the political world and teetering on the brink. One slight move more to the left would result in a totally Marxist media. The idea that the media could use more influence from some nutty leftist harridans is risable.
