Leave Iraq, Sadr tells "anti-Christ Bush"

The powerful Iraqi cleric and militia leader Moqtada al-Sadr called President George W. Bush the "anti-Christ" on Saturday and urged him to heed calls by the opposition Democrats to withdraw from the chaos of Iraq.

Sadr, whose ministers quit Shi'ite Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's government this month, renewed his demand for a U.S. pullout a day after Bush pledged to veto legislation that would require U.S. troops to begin leaving Iraq by October 1.

Calling Bush "the greatest evil," Sadr said in a letter read out by a Sadrist MP in parliament that an eventual U.S. pullout would be a "victory for the Iraqi people".

"Here are the Democrats demanding that you withdraw at least with a timetable and you are stubborn against them," said Sadr, whose Mehdi Army militia fought two uprisings against U.S. forces in 2004.

"You are like the one-eyed anti-Christ. You look with one eye and refuse to look with the other," he told Bush.

Does it bother the Democrats that those who are killing our troops see them as allies? (rhetorical question)

This barbarian should be sharing hell with Saddam. I can’t for the life of me figure out why we don’t help him on his way.

Sadr may be hiding in Iran. That he sympathizes with Iran and vice versus makes his statement to Bush no surprise. Iran wants Iraq, and the US’s leaving will make it easy for them to conquer it. Of course, they won’t be imperialists; that term only applies to the USA. Ethnic cleansing will follow...

What does he know about how our government works, Christ, or the Antichrist? I’d like to introduce him to the concepts of the presidential veto, the role of commander-in-chief, and the prophecy of the Antichrist as the one who will unite all non-Christians in a sweet-sounding but dangerous “religion.” It will not be a Christian, by definition. Back to school, sonny.

Mookie Fatboy doens’t have any idea what anti-Christ even means. He’s just reading the statement Ahmanutjob gave him to read.

When you look at this idiot’s murderous eyes all you see is a child who wants his way. He’s a hero to the ignorant uneducated masses in Iraq, nothing more.

And he can’t even command a big protest any more. He’s been shown as the coward he is cowering behind the sheet of Iran. That doesn’t go over well to even the poor Shites.

His words now don’t generate the fanatical rioting mobs he wishes. Petraeus knows exactly what he’s doing. Help him to retain the momentum.

“SADDAM IS DEAD”

In Awja, the small town north of Baghdad where Saddam was born, young children gathered with men and women on Saturday to celebrate the birthday of the once-feared dictator, who was executed on December 30 for crimes against humanity.

“The children brought candles, but we didn’t light them because Saddam is dead,” said Faten Abdulkader, one of the children’s supervisors, as flowers and banners were laid on Saddam’s tomb in an extravagant, marble-floored mosque hall.

Four years after Saddam’s ouster, Iraq has been riven by sectarian violence between majority Shi’ites and once-dominant Sunni Arabs that has killed tens of thousands of Iraqis and pitched the country close to all-out sectarian civil war.

Beloved by children, Saddam was a great guy. The left loves dictators oppressing other people.

And then passing it to his nephew to read aloud because Mookie doesn't have the cojones to show his ugly face anywhere in Iraq.

Because he's AFRAID of the Americans.

Yeah. When I read that first paragraph I pretty much read it as...

The powerful Iraqi cleric and militia leader and Democrat spokesperson Moqtada al-Sadr called President George W. Bush the "anti-Christ" on Saturday and urged him to heed calls by the opposition Democrats to withdraw from the chaos of Iraq.

It's bizarro world when the friends of our enemies are our own locally grown politicians.

Sincerely

Notice Reuters compliments Sadr as “powerful”.

Yep, he is their man alright.

The Islamic cultists never had it so good, for the last 2 decades, they have had excellent press, especially against Israel.

Sadr, Iran’s mullahs, al Qaeda, and the Democrats: strategic allies in the war against Bush. They’ve the same talking points. They’ve the same objectives: chaos and anarchy in Iraq, Iran preeminent in the most strategic part of the world, American humbled and shamed in defeat, and a public confused and willing to even trust the party of Jimmy Carter. This would be a disaster in the War against Islamists terrorists. The Democrats are more concerned about the rights of terrorists than the safety and security of Americans. They’ve gone from their working with the US grievance industry (Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson) to fretting and fussing for the rights of terrorists at Gitmo. America must wake up.

Moqtada Al-Sadr talks a tough talk from his sanctuary in Iran. Thugs like him are cowards and opportunists. Al-Sadr is the son of Grand Ayatollah Muhammad al-Sadr, who was killed in 1999 by agents of Saddam Hussein. Some see him as taking advantage of his father good name with his rise to power as the Shi’a sect leader. He has from the start opposed the U.S. effort in Iraq and has assassinated those who have opposed him. The moderate Shi’ite Grand Ayatollah Abd al-Majid al-Khoi is one of those who were assassinated in 2003 by Al-Sadr supporters.

When Truman's administration had us leave Korea in the late 1940's, the army of North Korean dictator Kim il-Sung invaded the South.

During the remaining 2 1/2 years of Truman's presidency, our country had to undergo

  1. A military draft
  2. severe wartime censorship*
  3. 30,000 American deaths in 30 months
* Correspondents were under the jurisdiction of the Army and subject to court martial. Correspondents could not reveal casualties or quote officers without authorization. Correspondents could not send demoralizing dispatches or criticize the allied effort. (More restrictions are listed at the link)

Do we really want to go through that again?

Hi again Allegra,
Hope u r well & safe.
I read this Sadr letter yesterday in the Iraqi press and couldn’t help noticing the ironies. The arabic version also contained remarks about the Americans ‘being scared, etc’! and that is coming from a man in hiding!
I couldn’t help thinking that the letter was read by one of his MPs in parliament and without US help, this MP would never have got there in the first place.
