Here is another example of why our Universities are so antithetical to American values that they are dangerous to society...
Apparently, the University of Oklahoma is putting up a memorial to a fool who blew himself up when a homemade bomb he assembled went off while he held it as he attended a football game in the University stadium. Fortunately, he only killed himself and not anyone around him.
To this kid we should be saying good riddance and he should be quickly forgotten. But here is the U of O mourning this idiot's death as if he were some kind of hero.
In fact, the only good thing he did was kill himself before he planted the bomb closer to other football fans in the stadium in which he died. But, that was a mere accident, NOT a planned, heroic deed.
Memorial Placed For Student Who Blew Self Up
The University of Oklahoma has put up a memorial to a student who died when a homemade bomb exploded near the OU football stadium. Now, the question is, why is the University bothering to memorialize this scum-bag who was so stupid that he couldn't even do his last, horrific act in life correctly?
A stone with the name of Joel Hinrichs III was placed outside the OU student union by the student affairs division.
Hinrichs died Oct. 1, 2005, when the bomb he built detonated as he sat on a campus bench near Memorial Stadium while a football game was under way. University officials ruled the death an accidental suicide.
Hinrichs' father -- Joel Hinrichs Jr. -- said the university offered to have the stone placed.
Families normally pay about $150 for the memorials, and Hinrichs said he's offered to pay, but OU hasn't sent him a bill.
No, there should be no memorial for this wannabe murderer, terrorist.
Yet here we have the U of O doing so anyway. Where are the morals of the administration of the U of O to create this memorial? Would the U of O support a memorial to Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh? Why not? After all, they succeeded quite handily in their last efforts.
And imagine the message the U of O is sending to people with this ignorant memorializing of this failed killer.
Worse yet. Where is the protest by Oklahomans for this idiotic act by the U of O?
This whole story is just a shameful series of circumstances and the University of Oklahoma should be ashamed of itself.
Our Universities have about become as bad as any enemy.
We got a way of doing things in Oklahoma.
I hope so.
How does one accidentally intentionally kill oneself? I guess it depends on what is written in the insurance policy.
Next they’ll be holding, “Take Your Suicide Bomber To Work Day”.
Your right let me try again,UNBELIEVEABLE,seriously, if this thread is true I think I’ve just about heard everything !!!
This won’t help football recruiting and scholarships.
Your welcome and my humble apology !!!
It sounds like they have a group of stones, with one stone added whenever an enrolled student dies regardless of reason. The article is misleading and sounds like Hinrichs was singled out.
>>I hope so.
2nd, 3rd, 4th, 25th, and 769th.
the thread's title is misleading; the stone's been in place since at least April 7
OOps. That was my fault for typing in the title wrong.
It SHOULD read "University Memorialized Suicide Bomber"
How about your humble abuse report on yourself to get rid of the coprolalia.
Does it MATTER why this punk got a stone memorial???
He should have been forgotten and NOT memorialized at all!!!
Yes it matters. It’s university policy.
It’s a BAD policy. Memorials are to celebrate and remember a person who DESERVES to be remembered. This punck should be erased from humanity.
Or do YOU think his actions should be celebrated?
Click the “Report Abuse” on the offending post you made. You do it.
Certainly nothing like this was envisioned at the time it was instituted. It would need to go through the proper bureaucracy to get an exception.
Well I could make an “offending” post right about now on you,but I’m going to be nice because there are children reading the thread, soooooooooo, have a nice night !!!
Quit harping on this.
An apology was issued, and accepted.
Let it go.
Not big on factual accuracy, are they. (Hint - he didn't go in the stadium.)
This is the accepted mechanism on FR for deleting posts that you made that you’ve been reminded that violate the forum rules. You file an abuse report on your own post. Usually it will vanish in seconds. So far that one hasn’t. Since the reports are no longer anonymous, I insist that the poster do this.
You will have violated
NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts.
Dig it up.
If anything he deserves a Darwin Award, not a memorial.
Well I’ve broken just about every one of those rules since I’ve been posting here, and by the way I’ve noticed a good number of other posters have also, however if Sesame Street is what we’ve got here, then nobody will have to ban me, I’ll get off on my own !!!
YOU ARE RIGHT!!
How much you want to bet someone does just that to this memorial?
Does U of O have a class in Liberalism?
Maybe if they put up a portapotty, with queeran TP, over his plaque. Then it would be a fitting memorial!
If this story is true, then you just have to wait to see what Virginia Tech Un. leftists will do to honor Chong.
Incredible, esp. for Oklahoma. Tragic for their students.
“UNBELIEVEABLE,no shit, if this thread is true I think Ive just about heard everything !!!”
“I’m not a prude, but it would be nice if FreeRepublic didn’t resemble DU when my son is reading over my shoulder.”
I hope you will take this as the advice it is intended as. If you’re worried about that word, then your dear son shouldn’t venture into public. I’m not being sarcastic. It is just the truth. This is an opportunity to show your son that while others may engage in certain language, it is not something that you approve of. If you don’t blow it out of proportion, then he will just take in stride. If you get really demonstrative with your emotions then he will learn that that is the way we handle things that don’t suit us. The “s” word certainly doesn’t offend me. I save my offense for other words and ideas. At the same time, I feel that we can learn to communicate our ideas without the use of certain words.
I always enjoyed the last scene from the “Day of the Jackal”. Just toss the canvas body sack in a road construction ditch.
Yeah, the frat boys will take care of the stone. The father initiated the request for the stone which is in an area of memorial stones. The University was not the prime mover in the affair. I understand his stone is near the perimeter of the area and turned so most people cannot read the upside down name.
Will VT follow suit?
