Drudge GOP Debate Poll -- 50,000 votes; Clear Winners are Romney, Giuliani, and RON PAUL
Drudge Report ^ | May 4, 2007 | Orthodox Presbyterian

DRUDGE REPORT
The Reagan Derby

Well, with 47,617 individual Votes recorded as of 12:55AM EST on 5/4/07, The Drudge Report has provided perhaps the most sweeping and comprehensive initial survey of viewer reaction to the first GOP Primary Debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

The Results thus far:

With an optimistic, confident demeaner and a polished presentation, Mitt Romney decidedly overshadowed the erstwhile Front-Runner, Rudy Giuliani. Rudy's primary strength thus far has been his vast name recognition and the sheer momentum of his supposed "inevitability" -- and yet, in terms of viewer reaction, for him to be trailing (by double digits) a former Governor not widely known outside of Massachusetts until this election season demonstrates clear vulnerability on Giuliani's part.

However, the greatest source of comfort to Constitutionalist Conservatives has to be the tremendous upswell of support being registered by the former Leader of Ronald Reagan's Electoral Delegation from Texas, United States Congressman Ron Paul -- and that DESPITE receiving comparatively little "face time" from the debate organizers. With viewer reaction to the first GOP Primary Debate already placing Congressman Ron Paul solidly in third place, nine points ahead of his nearest rival and within five points of Giuliani himself, a tremendous opportunity exists for Ron Paul to establish widespread national Name Recognition and garner increasing support for his broadly-appreciated message of Individual Liberty and strictly-limited Government Power.

With the second GOP Primary Debate rapidly approaching, Conservatives can take heart in knowing that the Message of Reagan Republicanism still resonates when presented confidently and forthrightly --and that there's at least one GOP Candidate on the stage who has stood solidly for Reagan Republicanism for thirty years: RON PAUL.

RON PAUL is the RIGHT Candidate for Pro-Life social conservatives.

RON PAUL is the RIGHT Candidate for Tax-Cutting fiscal conservatives.

RON PAUL is the ONLY 100% Anti-Terrorist candidate.

RON PAUL is the RIGHT Candidate for National Defense and Foreign Affairs.

RON PAUL is the RIGHT Candidate for the Bill of Rights.

RON PAUL is the RIGHT Candidate on Illegal Immigration.

RON PAUL is the ONLY socially-conservative Candidate defending the independence of the Christian Church against Federal "Faith-Based Socialism".

"I got to know President Reagan in 1976 when, as a freshman congressman, I was one of only four members of that body to endorse then-Governor Reagan’s primary challenge to President Gerald Ford. I had the privilege of serving as the leader of President Reagan’s Texas delegation at the Republican convention of 1976, where Ronald Reagan almost defeated an incumbent president for his party’s nomination. I was one of the millions attracted to Ronald Reagan by his strong support for limited government and the free-market. I felt affinity for a politician who based his conservative philosophy on '...a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom.' I wish more of today’s conservative leaders based their philosophy on a desire for less government and more freedom." – Ron Paul, Remembering Ronald Reagan

In 2008, I'm voting for the REAGAN REPUBLICAN.
I'm voting for former Vietnam Combat Flight
Surgeon, and Leader of Ronald Reagan's
Electoral Delegation from Texas: In 2008,
I'm Voting for RON PAUL!
"The greatest champion of conservative principles we have seen in Congress in the past quarter century."

Tremendously good news for Ron Paul in terms of Viewer Reaction to the first GOP Primary Debate.

Drudge has polled nearly 50,000 individual Votes, and we're solidly in Third Place (and have been moving up).

I’m Just Waitin’ On A Fred

Watching girly-men go passing by
It ain’t the latest thing
I’m just standing in a doorway
I’m just trying to make some sense
Out of these girly-men go passing by
The tales of sellout men
I’m not waiting on the Rinos
I’m just waiting on a Fred

His smile relieves a heart that grieves
Remember what I said
I’m not waiting on the Rinos
I’m just waiting on a Fred
I’m just waiting on a Fred

Don’t need a whore
I don’t need no boozer
Don’t need a Mormon priest
But I need someone I can cry to
I need someone to protect me
Making war and breaking heads
It is a game for few
But I’m not waiting on the Rinos
I’m just waiting on a Fred

Really?

Then disqualify ALL the GOP candidates who hail from Congress -- since the Congress unanimously Voted for the Ron Paul Civil Liberties Amendment to the Patriot Act, I guess you could say that they ALL "voted with liberals" (Duncan Hunter included).

Allow me to ask you a question I’ve asked several Romney supporters tonight, with no satisfactory response:

Shouldn’t a candidate’s current rhetoric bear at least a passing resemblence to their record?

Mitt Romney does very well in any sort of public speaking environment.

I've already decided on my candidate -- Ron Paul; I just can't bring myself to be totally convinced of Romney's quite recent (and quite conveniently-timed) flip-flop over to the Pro-Life cause. I, personally, just don't completely buy it.

But he can keep knocking Giuliani silly, I'm all for it!! More power to him, in that.

Ron Paul defended his seat against the most highly “trial lawyer-funded” liberal campaign ever waged in this country.
John Edwards could only hope for the trial-lawyer support Ron Paul’s opposition got.

Don’t get me wrong. I prefer Paul to any democrat I can think of. He and I are in agreement about many things. His lack of understanding regarding the need to crush islamo fascists where they live though makes him a non starter to me.

Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate calling for an immediate END to all Military and Financial support for the criminal Islamic Terrorist thug-regime of Iraq.

I don't understand this. Is he unwilling to give the Iraqis a chance to work these problems out, and siding with Reid and Murtha who want to run away? Doesn't he think anything can be salvaged? Granted, this is the first and the most I've heard about him, but I really don't get his position on this.

Ron Paul voted for the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force against those responsible for the 9/11 attacks. We got hit, Ron Paul voted to punch back hard.

But Deficit-Spending hundreds of billions of dollars on "Nation-Building" in Iraq is another question entirely. I did not sign on to Free Republic to support installing Islamic Theocracies around the world (and by defining the Koran as the Principal Source of Law, the Iraqi Constitution does treat Christianity as a Second-Class Religion).

No it is an Internet page that can be hoaxed. All you need to do is write a script that clears out your cookies and re-vote. I did it myself on this poll. You can test it by going to Internet Settings in your browser and clearing temp files and cookies. Then cast your vote again.

The vote is fraudulent and you are waisting your time.

Then while I would understand if your first choices were Hunter and/or Tancredo, I think you should at least give Ron Paul a fair hearing. You may not like his position on Iraq; that is your prerogative. But, given the rapidly expanding Federal Debt, I think that you must at least consider Ron Paul's argument that spending even one-tenth of the Iraq budget on Border Security, Port Security, and Coast Guard operations here at home would give us far more Anti-Terrorist "Bang for our Buck".

The Time Warner-Disney-Hollywood entertainment think tanks have preselected our leaders for us. Hunter, Paul and other candidates who are far more qualified to be President then Rudy, Hillary, Obama or even Thompson are blacked out and or marginalized by this massive propaganda machine.

National debate is stifled. Ron Paul can win if people find a way out of the sheep pen that the boob tube keeps them in. If Ron Paul could win it would mark a revolutionary move back to originalist Constitutional thinking by our Executive. We might regain ground that has been lost to the creeping statism which has been steadily encroaching on this nation's people.

I attempted this. I cleared temp files, cleared cookies, closed all browser windows; then I cleared history, temp files, and cookies again, went to Drudge, and attempted to vote "Ron Paul" again.

The Drudge Report said "thank you for voting", but did NOT record my vote (the tally remained the same). Drudge has incorporated at least some anti-cheat protections.

At any rate, even if what you say is true, one would imagine that EVERY candidate has at least some web-savvy supporters hoaxing the vote. Yet, in terms of the overall ratio, three candidates have emerged as clear winners: Romney, Giuliani, and Ron Paul.
