Apparently Murtha thinks Petraeus is lying about al-Qaeda and thinks al-Qaeda has little to do with the violence in Iraq.

Why? Because Murtha is a member of a "Sacred Cow" organization-- a veteran, a mother or widow of a fallen soldier, a minority, etc. If they say something, the media believes they're beyond criticism (especially if it agrees with their agenda). Murtha and the media are playing on this "sacred cow" reputation just like they did with Cindy Sheehan and the "9/11 widows."

Note, however, that the "sacred cow" does not apply to members currently working for the establishment; in fact, it is the opposite. If they can pit one against the other, the media will jump all over the chance to do it.

I’m not sure senility can explain Murtha’s flat out lies. It’s not like he’s just confused, he accuses marines of terrorism, he attacks the general who was put in place only months ago by unanimous vote...not a single dems claimed he was a political hack then. Now his plan to relocate the troops to nearby Guam might be the result of senility, but his dishonesty appears to be linked directly to a very black heart and twisted mind. He makes the Grinch look like a social worker.
