But this little boy's case deserves a full accounting for his sake and for his father's sake.

and for the mother's sake. Of course she's guilty until proven innocent and let's do it for the sake of the kids!

Compassion should be focused primarily on the poor little child who lost his life.

The child is living in glory with his father, he does not need compassion. The mother is living in a hell on earth and should get compassion and prayers from all of us who are not.

Prayers for comfort and healing for the entire family.

With all the monday morning quarterbacking I am sure this poor mom wishes she could have a do-over and take all the after the fact advice offered in what was an accident that probably transpired in less than 5 seconds.

That’s a lovely little area. One of the nicer corners of the borough.

all the after the fact advice

Hopefully others can learn a lesson from this horrible incident.

One of the best bits of advice I ever received was from my father-in-law when I bought my new house.

He told me to always put the emergency brake on my car when parked in my driveway because of all the families with small children on the block.

He told me a story about how when he was younger his neighbor's car had been rolled by a stiff wind and broke a little girl's leg.

I always follow this piece of advice - it makes perfect sense but you wouldn't necessarily think of it.

That poor lady and her family. How will she ever get through life with such heartache and loss? So very sad.

And to the poster that said “THIS is a tragedy....not the death of Anna Nicole Smith, I agree whole heartedly.

From the article:

Breisy Mercedes was cradling her 1-year-old son and leaning into the Jeep Liberty when the SUV suddenly began rolling backward outside her home in the Bronx, police and witnesses said.

The open driver's door knocked Breisy Mercedes to the pavement and Christopher fell under the vehicle.

Police were investigating how the SUV slipped into neutral, and sources said the mother's purse strap may have become tangled with the gear shift. She was too distraught to speak with police last night, the sources said.

This all happened in the blink of an eye, don't be so quick to judge the Mother of this baby.

Reading accounts of the situation, it does seem like a horrible accident. It’s hard to tell anymore. I know people here are upset that some of us went for the “blame the mother” approach, but how can you blame us. It isn’t like those things don’t happen all the time. I can call to mind about 10 cases right off the top of my head that originally had me thinking “Oh that poor woman” only to find out withing a few days that the woman was to blame. It’s made me cynical, I’m sorry. It doesn’t help that the first article had loads of extra crap in it that was intentionally going for the “Kleenex” effect. It seemed like the writer was trying to hard to convince.

She was just coming home from picking up his death benefits...his mother said “He didn’t want to go to Iraq”... He never saw the sonogram...

I’m sorry for jumping to conclusions, and I’m donning the flameproof attire, but it still sounds fishy to me.

That doesn’t mean I won’t pray for them. I especially want to offer them for his brother. That man’s words tore my heart out.

The line from the other article was particularly unbelievable - that a little boy was dying in the street and a passerby, instead of helping, said "Why don't you call your husband?" And she responded "My husband died in Iraq!"

That was a journalistic touch that was particularly hard to swallow.

I want to add that even with the news reporting multiple deaths of children left/forgotten to die in cars during the summer, it still happens.

The sad part is that some posters want to judge the mother before they know/or think they what the truth of what really happened. That’s a liberal tactic.

Perhaps she was dropping the child off at day care or a grandparents and the car was still running....

Tragic. RIP little one. Prayers for all the family.

Is this the child of the soldier killed in Iraq? It says he died a year ago and the child just turned 1 month old. The timeline doesn’t add up, unless “year ago” was 10 months rounded up.
