Thanks for posting about this. I have tried to keep up on this murder and other black on white crimes...the media cover-up is so obvious and the only information is via the Web...
I thought there was a woman charged as well.

I am for the elimination of all classifications of any criminal act as “hate”.
Crime is crime, murder is murder and each victim should be given the same respect for the execution of justice served upon their killers. “Hate” makes the victim no less or more a victim nor the lack thereof makes perpetrator no more or less a criminal in need of severe punishment. Justice ought be blind; be administered equally.
IMO, all “extenuating circumstance” save self-defense ought be rejected by the courts and public executions ought be carried out in the area the crime was committed in and in no case should a trial exceed three months.
me thinks that playing street ball makes you lazy with rules by "force" rather than movement and position.
When they decide to start calling traveling and palming the ball, I might catch a pro game. It's wrestling with a basketball. NCAA is the as close to 100% effort. If you really wanted to clean up college ball, randomly rotate the officiating crew for games and sites to 12 hours before the game. Probably should be done in the NFL as well.
Not that gambling influences calls, but you'd always want to be one step ahead of the problem.

well up until about 30 - 40 years mountain lions were treated as pests and killed on sight. so their ranges were pretty narrow in the west. however, starting about 30-40 years ago “the wild” began to be more highly valued than “civilization” so mountain lions were NOT shot so much any more. their ranges expanded. about 30 people have been killed by mountain lions in the last 100 years. half of those fatalities have come in the last 15 years.
people like the wild thing better than they like civilization. same goes for illegals. more americans (and mostly black) have been killed by illegals than have been killed in Iraq. why not? well the illegals are part of the wild thing.

What we have is a 12% minority of America's society (per 2000 US census information) committing 53% of all murders (per the information linked above). Extrapolating those numbers finds blacks are 4.4 times more likely to commit murder than their counterparts of the US population.
If this proposed "hate crime legislation" is to be of any intrinsic value to the black people of our nation, it or other legislation must likewise address and target this disparity.
Thank you for posting this. It is one of the more disturbing crimes I have seen in my law enforcement career including 7 prior years in Knoxville with the PD.
The story does not disclose all of the horrible things endured by this young couple. This was evil in it’s purest form and it sickened even the most jaded officers involved in the investigation.
However, I agree with azhenfud’s post above.... Evil, sin, and crimes should not be assigned special value based on classification of the victims or defendants. The whole concept of hate crimes legislation is unconstitutional IMO because we are all supposed to have the same rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The court has the right and authority to consider other factors at the time of sentencing without further legislation or classifications of the crime.
I am certain this will be a death penalty case based on the evidence.
The numbers are even worse than that - you have to compare 53% of murders committed by 12% of the population, to 47% committed by 88% - your ratio is (53/12) / (47/88) = 8 with rounding.
Blacks commit murder at 8 times the rate non-blacks do.
Of course men commit murder at 9 times the rate women do.

There will NEVER be a merging of these two cultures anytime in the near future when the blacks behave in this manner.
I will never in my lifetime trust them.
I will never welcome them into my home.
I will never feel safe as long as the plea bargains continue, and the revolving doors of the justice system keep putting these thugs back out into the streets to repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat their malicious behaviour.
If you wish to pass legislation that proclaims that I am practicing hate crime thought-—go for it, and KMA.

I had thought nothing would haunt or sicken me as much as the Wichita 2000 murders but this story is even worse. The savage animalistic brutality is nothing short of a Nuremberg style war crime. Almost as sickening as that is the media ignoring it. Just another random crime I suppose. Yeah right. Even if race were not a factor this kind of atrocity should be publicized just to warn law abiding citizens to be even more careful of the human garbage out there.

Based on my experience working in the inner city I don’t see the demographics as a color issue... it is a culture issue. The inner city of America is statistically a Garden of Evil where the many social ills such as drugs, violence, gangs, the worst of the hip-hop culture (gangsta rap), dysfunctional homes, poverty, etc etc etc all combine to shape young children into thugs. The decent people who live there seem incapable (along with government) of making any meaningful change.
I would bet you get the same statistical result from white children who grow up in the same environment. I believe framing the debate on the issue of race is a mistake.
It is a national tragedy that we are raising generations of children in such an environment on the taxpayers dime. There is little America would not do to prevent the perversion of so many young children under other circumstances but we seem incapable of true intervention in these communities because we are unable to have an honest debate (political correctness). Anyone who has spent years working with people in such an environment should not be surprised that it produces persons capable of acts like this.
Their environment does not excuse evil acts or crimes but I guarantee you that many we read about in the paper today were probably showing symptoms as small children 10 or 15 years ago and little or nothing was done to intervene.
The killers are subhumans just like the Carr brothers, Joseph Duncan, and Alejandro Avila. They might look like human beings, but they are instead some kind of monsters. Carr brothers were sentenced to death, but some judge reversed it.
