WASHINGTON -- New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani urged President Clinton Tuesday to free convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard, a move that could boost Jewish support for the Republican's prospective Senate campaign -- and complicate a possible run in 2000 by First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Regarding Pollard, Giuliani said the Israeli deserves presidential clemency because the life sentence for espionage given him in 1987 goes "way beyond" sentences given in the past to American citizens convicted of spying for a U.S. ally.
Pollard, a former civilian U.S. Navy intelligence analyst, has already served a longer prison term than enemy spies who are routinely traded by their governments, according to Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor and associate attorney general in the Justice Department.
"It seems to me that there was an appropriate basis on which the President could exercise his discretion and cut that particular sentence," Giuliani said, adding that Pollard has "served much more than anyone else convicted of the same thing."
Giuliani stressed that he was restating a position that he had taken on the Pollard case "a couple of years ago" rather than announcing a new position.
The Clinton administration continues to review clemency for Pollard following repeated requests by the Israeli government. ...
Giuliani deflected questions about whether he would endorse Texas Gov. George W. Bush as the Republican presidential nominee. The Associated Press quoted a top New York GOP official as saying the mayor could make such an announcement on Thursday.
Stormfront is two doors down on the right.
Dang! We need to get rid of dual citizenship, NOW!
And all elected politicians, State and Fed, should hold citizenship in only ONE country (yeah, Arnie—that’s YOU, too).
Thanks for that link... I missed it but now see it was posted at FR:
GIULIANI BANDWAGON BRANCHES OUT TO ISRAEL
" Oh, please, let me sound conservative. Who knew I'd need those
'dumb pro-life Christian conservatives' to make a primary showing?
They're killing me on FR just b/c I had three wives, several mistresses,
was honored by NARAL, donated to Planned Parenthood, and marched
for gay rights under the NAMBLA banner."
You’re not implying I made this up, are you?
Check it out at your public library—or buy a lexis/nexis account.
The Times Union doesn’t archive their articles online prior to 2005.

So sorry, cal. My error.
I was remiss in not posting the FR link.
Thanks for posting it.
No problem. :-)
I would have no reason to imply that. I saw the story from other sources just before you posted it.
Is there a reason to doubt this about Rudy? Forgive me, I just dont understand how you could have come to such a conclusion. Maybe you accidentally posted your reply to me instead of whoever implied that.
Off topic a little bit, but has anything been posted about Giuliani flip-flopping on the Terri Schiavo case during the debate?
The link in your post #15.
What were you trying to say then?

Yeah-—I did see a reference to that on FR. If I had known you’d be asking, I would have taken notes (grin).
Nothing yet. I did come up with Ed Koch calling Rudy a "nasty man" in a google search. That's about it.
Damn, this girl’s good, eh, garv?
Links and all. Wow.
Bumping up so all can see just how tough Rudi is on criminals!
Google Search results:
Your search - “Duncan hunter URGES CLINTON TO RELEASE ISRAELI SPY in 1999” - did not match any documents.
(It means Duncan Hunter could be the one to call Rudy out on this.)
I wanted to make sure Hunter was clean before I made the suggestion. I wasnt born yesterday.
Thanks, that was quick. I saw a replay of the debate this morning and realized that he had flipped. Shocking, not.
