JERUSALEM (Reuters) - More than two dozen Israeli motorists manoeuvred around the dead body of a road accident victim lying in the middle of a busy intersection, failing to stop to help in an incident captured by a traffic camera.

Israelis have a reputation for rushing to the scene of accidents or Palestinian bombings to help victims, and the apparent apathy shown in Yisraeli's case touched off a public debate over whether Israeli society has become uncaring.

There is no "uncaring" here!

If one is not a doctor or a trained responder, then of course they shouldn't get out in mid-day traffic to investigate something like that.

Call the police, call an ambulance, whatever... You'd only be blocking emergency access and creating a worse situation by stopping your vehicle.

That was definitely my first thought! Even corpses seem susceptible to Sudden Jihad Syndrome in that part of the world.

You have a good point. Last year I was in a car in Los Angeles when a man collapsed in the street. No one stopped to help him but when I called 911, the operator told me I was about the 10th to call and an ambulance was on its way.

People don’t know what things are in the road, as they zip buy -— I recall there was a dead body (also a motorcyle accident — the bike went into a construction ditch) on the side of Houston I-45 for several days. (This may have been Dallas.)

My sister would do that. I stopped by her business, and there was a dead squirrel in front. She wouldn't touch it, even with a shovel. I scooped it up [with a shovel] and tossed it into the bushes, but it got hung up on a bush, and there it remained for weeks while it disintegrated.

But, I don't blame otherwise normal people for driving around a DB in that part of the world, per #3.
