Any surprises here? (There's some mixed up names on the release. Sorry)

Special question -- Is Jeb Bush a possible candidate for the 2008 Presidential election?

Would you support him?

There's a rumor that he would VP with Romney. Do you believe it?

I think we've thought about Jeb before as a possibility. I'd want to know more than I do about him. As to the rumor, anything's possible at this point. People really seem to like Romney, I'm not sure I'm one of them.

Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Paul Pelosi.

Blech.

I take it they are going to be having some kind of food tonight. I am using the grill at home and I cooked some T-bone steaks and jalapeno peppers. For the jalapeno peppers, I grilled them and then sliced them up and drizzled olive oil over them. I ate them with the steak. We also had broccoli and a salad of greens, pepitas (like pumpkin seeds), diced Gouda cheese and sliced hard-boiled egg with olive oil. I also had a $10.99 bottle of Rancho Zabaco Zinfandel to go with it.

Now I've switched over to margaritas made with Jose Cuervo. If the Queen and friends want to drop over, I reckon I can scare up another pitcher or two.

What a rip. For those of you that didn’t see the Derby, the jocky seems to be a real character. He sort of reminded me of popeye . He’s a cajun.

On the other hand, Hillary must be grinding her teeth that’s she’s not on it.

What? No Hillery? A lousy president she would be if she can't find the strings to pull to meet her Queen. (Then again they may be some unseen jealousy involved)

More likely, George Bush and Carl Rove tricked her, again.

WASHINGTON - White House Chef Cristeta Comerford is busy in the kitchen as her team prepares to receive Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh for a State Dinner to be hosted by President George W Bush. It is being estimated that some 134 people will attend the dinner.

Rumors on the menu have been running rife in the past few days and Comerford is not about to release the list, only saying that the dinner is a five course one and will reflect the cuisine of the UK as well as the United States.

Chef Cristeta Comerford honestly admits she is very nervous, but she adds that her upbringing has prepared her to conjure up a meal fit for the Queen.

“Actually what we try to do when we have a state dinner, we cook everything in an American fashion and we use American ingredients,” she elaborated. “But, at the same time we want to highlight some English part of it also so we found this farm house cheese maker that makes good English cheeses so we are incorporating that into our menu.”

Comerford said her mid was focused although she had to deal with at least 20 things at a time. The dinner will be a white tie affair, a thing suggested by the First Lady although Bush was apparently not too keen on this. White House social secretary Amy Zantzinger said, “I think Mrs. Bush is thrilled to have a white-tie dinner, and we’ll leave it at that.”

Florists are also in a spin because of the number of flower arrangements required. Babies breath and wild roses will also be on display tonight as these are supposedly the Queen’s favorites.

Burrrrrrp!

"Even in the British royal family, which is very moderate in comparison, there has scarcely been a monarch in 300 years who has not married a (near or distant) relative. Indeed, Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip are second cousins once removed, both being descended from Christian IX of Denmark. They are also third cousins as great-great-grandchildren of Queen Victoria."

MORE COLORFUL NEWS

The centuries-old vermeil flatware and candelabras came from a London silversmith. A made-of-sugar replica of the queen’s 1953 coronation rose graced the cake. English farmhouse cheeses accompanied the salad course.

And the traditional “special guest” invited only at the last minute was sure to be of interest to an avid horse enthusiast such as the queen: Calvin Borel, the jockey who rode Street Sense to victory in the Kentucky Derby this weekend with the royals in attendance.

For the sixth state dinner of Bush’s presidency, the State DininRoom was decked out in white and gold. Among the 134 guests were scores of diplomats, businessmen and members of Congress. But other than Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and golfer Arnold Palmer, the celebrity quotient was low.

The menu and entertainment were designed as a showcase of America’s best: spring pea soup with U.S. caviar, dover sole almondine, spring lamb with chanterelle sauce and local vegetables and an arugula, mustard greens and romaine salad, said executive chef Cristeta Comerford.

Virtuoso Itzhak Perlman was playing violin.

But despite the excitement and hundreds of hours of preparation, Mrs. Bush suggested that this white-tie affair could not only be their first _ but last. She called the dinner, somewhat wistfully, “the most elegant and most formal that we’ll host.”

People who should realize that this country cut its ties with Great Britain (and by extension its descendant, the UK) 231 years ago:

Have a little self-respect, people.

P.S. These people (and those similar to them) have almost NO right to argue against Americans of Mexican descent marching in ethnic parades or American of Italian descent waving around Italian flags. So much for assimilation.

At least Cheney looks as though he has a more proper attitude:

.....though a sneer seems to be almost a permanent fixture on his face.

P.P.S. Philip in the earlier post, rather than Phillip.

Not a freakin' chance, no offense there...

Don't take much to "Royalty" either way. Queen's welcome to visit, I don't have a problem with people visiting a free country. 'long as she respectfully understands we don't have royalty here.

Same goes fer Jeb. I don't respect "Kennedy's" and the Bush thing was a fluke at the right time because the alternatives were gore and that mr. Heinz/Bunny/thingy guy (think he wuz in Vietnam or something...they didn't like him either)

President Bush was the best we had to offer the nation at the time. If the rats hadn't been so completely excellent at treason, President Bush could have been the greatest President of our time.

Sadly, he "misunderestimated" the enemy at home.

Won't chance his brother doing the same. Time for new blood. Not now, not ever. Sorry, Jeb...run for the senate. Be smart like Rudy wasn't...
