Shortage of equipment hampering town's recovery 15 of Kansas's 19 helicopters are deployed in Iraq 70 more troops due to arrive in Greensburg today
KANSAS Governor Kathleen Sebelius said today a shortage of equipment caused by the war in Iraq was hampering recovery efforts in a US town obliterated by a tornado.
A shortage of trucks, helicopters and other equipment all sent to Iraq was a "huge handicap" to the recovery effort, the Democrat governor said.
..."We're getting pounded in Kansas. We have the need for National Guard in two different parts of our state now. This is really going to be a problem," Ms Sebelius said.
...Ms Sebelius said about half of Kansas's large equipment including dump trucks and front loaders, 20 per cent of its Humvees and 15 of its 19 helicopters were sent to Iraq.

What’s Wrong With Kansas?
The senator from Kansas says she has quite enough equipment.
can you imagine such a quote in the midst of WWII?
“all our equipment is at D Day landings, we are really upset here in toadsuck ferry kansas.”
Funny. I didn’t hear Rick Perry whining like a b1tch about alck of equipment when Eagles Pass got whiped out last month!
I couldn’t believe that ugly woman trying to score partisan political points on the Iraq war while standing in the middle of such devastation. What at idiot. What a politcal puta.
What you said -- except to be fair, she isn't ugly.
So does the adjutant general of the Kansas National Guard.
Was she sworn in down in N’awlins ?
Exactly how much equipment does she think she needs?
What amazes me is that now when ever you stick a microphone in front of a liberal, the opportunity will be used for a partisan political tirade. No matter who, no matter where.
For starters, they have a whiny democrap for a governor

The rats are still searching for a new low. I suspect that they have not found it yet.
I think she is horse-faced. I kept expecting her to whinney.

She is a liar. She has enough trucks to cover that little town 2x over and the men to run them, if she wants to send them there.

Talked in detail about this, for an hour or more this morning.
Hmmm...maybe the Gov. should look at the openning page of the Kansas National Guard website:
“The Army National Guard is an elite group of warriors who dedicate a portion of their time to serving their nation. Each state has its own National Guard as required by the constitution; in fact, the National Guard is the only branch of the military whose existence is actually required by the constitution”
