David Gregory to Replace Don Imus?

David Gregory has long been accused by Republicans of being a left-wing hatchet man disguised as a reporter. Add to that, Gregory certainly does appear to love the limelight as his questions at presidential news conferences, or really any time the cameras are roiling, turn into long-winded filibusters. Many news observers from the right and left agree, for David Gregory, it is all about Dave.
If you can accept that, that would make him a really good radio talk show host to replace ousted shock jock Don Imus. (That would also make him a really bad reporter). Now a report from the New York Daily news claims that David may just get that chance for the limelight to shine on him.

Scarborough has done a pretty good job this week in that time slot.
Greggory? If nothing else, at least he won’t be able to filibuster the daily WH press briefings.

The good news is that they have moved “The David Gregory Show” from the White House Press Room to MSNBC.
To: AT7Saluki
Great idea - stop inflicting him on the news consuming public and put him in a dead-end guaranteed low-ratings job that may kill off his career.
Now can we find a slot for Terry Moran?

Yes, to be fair, Joe Scarborough is doing an excellent job, and I'm choking just saying it..

Interesting Hillary Clinton was going on Scarborough’s show this morning. I wasn’t able to watch the interview...but considering she’s rarely available for such a thing, you have to wonder at the timing.

Interesting. Politics aside, Gregory is a creative and funny guy. Anyone who knows how to let their guests get a word in edgewise has my cautious vote.
To: Badeye; Coldwater Creek
For me, the key is for them to be on neither side.
To: NeoCaveman
Scarborough has had a black guy (Ridley) on with him this week. Tucker had Chuck Nice last week. Very funny.
To: Silly
How about Dick Gregory? Is he still alive? Yeah, and funnier, too. Problem, as side from his age, is that he's even more politcally incorrect than Imus.

Now a report from the New York Daily news claims that David may just get that chance for the limelight to shine on him. IMHO this is a ridiculous scenario. Gregory isn't even a good guest. The job he has now has much more of a future than any talk show host. Why ole monkey face could be the next Helen Thomas (eek: picture that mug 20 years from now).

I always like listening to Imus, but his interviews with Gregory is probably the biggest reason I stopped listening. I would switch stations when he came on and during that period, I got hooked on the Bill Bennett show. Gregory is terrible.

Now THAT’S funny!
To: AT7Saluki
Awesome. MSNBC will be bankrupt by August.
I have watched David Gregory fill in for Chris Matthews and I’ve seen him trying to be funny at correspondent’s dinners and such. He will flop in spectacular fashion at hosting a several hour show every morning.
MSNBC doesn’t realize how hard it is to fill all those hours with listenable content. That’s why radio stations pay a lot for guys like Stern and Imus and Rush and Hannity.

Seeing David Gregory on the TeeVee in the morning would be a real killer for MSNBC ratings...and thusly great for real Americans...he is nothing more than a shill and I find him irritating in the extreme, a pompous know nothing lefty fool! At least Imus was occasionally humorous

You can’t be a real republican and work on msnbc. Joe is a phony. He was kissing Hillary’s butt in interview this morning. Can’t stand watching Joe he’s a sell out. I wonder what the going rate for selling out your country is today? Plenty of people do that now a days on PMSNBC

Tucker’s show works a lot better in that time slot than any of the other shows. It has to be informative, but light-hearted to get people to watch/listen. You have to cover all sorts of things about pop culture and not just reading the headlines like they do on CSPAN. Chuck Nice works on VH1’s Best Week Ever and that’s the sort of mood for a show to be successful in that slot for MSNBC. Nice and Tucker and Willie Geist and some laid-back chick who isn’t some shrill feminazi (also like the ones who contribute on Best Week Ever, or like Stern’s Robin Givens) would be perfect.

I was wondering where Chuck Nice came from. Sharp guy.
I agree, the Tucker try-out has been the best so far. Willie Geist has a future and needs to be given more air time.
Scarborough is, as Imus would say, “just awful.”
