The man responsible for protecting Egypt's antiquities has said he will "fight" for the return of an ancient bust of Nefertiti, an ancient Egyptian queen, now housed in a Berlin museum.
Zahi Hawass also requested the temporary return of other ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the Rosetta Stone which is housed in London's British museum.
"Some people say, 'If we give this bust to Egypt for three months they will not return it'." Hawass said, regarding the bust of Nefertiti, in an interview on Wednesday.

Zahi Hawass is seeking "unique artifacts" from at least 10 museums around the world [AP]

Ping. :)
Egypt or BUST!.........
I say give them back after the Egyptian governmnet pays for the expedition and excavation costs (at todays dollar) associated with finding these items in the first place, Oh yeah be sure to throw in the cost for secure storage and maintenance these man years.
Put it on exhibit in the library at Alexandria for safe keeping.
I might want to see the Rosetta Stone some day (it has historical significance). I suggest the consider the possibility that the items would not be returned.

Well, it's very impressive, yes, but we need to ask you a few questions.
No need to got to Egypt for that. The Rosetta Stone is the British Museum in London. I saw it 10 years ago. It's pretty impressive.
Obviously, you’ve studied the classics.
We stole it fair and square.
she was a beauty... terrible movie... and fun to look at
when I say... fun to look at... I meant Liz... not the movie

(That's supposed to be Hillary Clinton, not Jimmy Carter.)
For a silly, but factual thread:
Senator Hillary Clintons Presidential Bust To Be Unveiled at the Museum of Sex

I believe that bust is a lot bigger than the actual bust of Mrs Clintoon.
I hate the idea that I actually looked at that area of the shrew...
Now I have to pluck out my eyes and I've enjoyed having these eyes.
Sounds as though the bust might get busted if Egypt succeeds in its bust or bust campaign.
ROFLOL!!!
Muslims cared NOTHING for preservation of ancient artifacts and cultural goods for 12+ centuries. They still largely despise them as un-Islamic (witness the Taliban destruction of the ancient Buddha statues with barely a peep of concern from the Muslim world). European (and later American) researchers began to discover, archive, and preserve countless such objects. Once ancient art and archaelogy became valuable in the eyes of much of the world, suddenly Europe and America are supposed to “return” all of the objects that were SAVED from being treated like trash for centuries (so many allowed to decay or be destroyed, etc.).
Of course you are absolutely correct. I am just so tired of these middle east savages dictating to the western world, terms of fairness. We should have nothing to do with them at all. That way, when they cannot contain themselves from attempting violence upon us, we can retaliate without reservation. for fear of negative opinion.
Of course I do agree. See my #21.

Yep ... he's a queen.
Wasn’t the Shroud of Turin snatched from Constantinople? Maybe the muslims will be wanting the Shroud back too. Imagine how long that would survive!
