Conservative Blog Declares ‘War’ on GOP Leaders
The Hill ^ | May 11, 2007 | Jackie Kucinich

Posted on 05/11/2007 1:54:42 PM PDT by kellynla

The editor of a popular conservative blog declared “war” on the GOP House leadership following the decision of Republican members to appoint Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Calif.) temporarily to a powerful House panel. “The House Republican Leadership just does not get it and they will not take us seriously until we flex our muscle against them,” wrote Erick Erickson, editor of www.redstate.com. “We must fight the House GOP and we must fight today.

“Today, I declare war on the Republican Leadership of the United States House of Representatives. … We must scalp one member. That member’s name is Ken Calvert.”

Erickson said in an e-mail to The Hill, “There were plenty of other Republicans who would have been eligible and good. Instead, they made a lateral move from [Rep. John] Doolittle (R-Calif.) to Calvert, who has not only had several questionable land deals, but also an arrest.”

In his blog post he outlined these allegations against Calvert. The post had attracted 17 online comments at press time, including one from Calvert press secretary Rebecca Rudman, who explained that one of the newspapers that initially reported the land sale later published an editorial saying the allegations were false. Calvert has denied any wrongdoing.

“Furthermore, all these matters were completely aired out before the Steering Committee and the full Republican Conference where my boss answered any and all questions thoroughly and in detail,” Rudman wrote.

Erickson responded to her post: “Thanks for stopping by Rebecca. The problem is that I just read the 38th e-mail from Republican staffers on the Hill and every single one is rooting for us on this matter.

“In fact, I know several members of the steering committee were loudly saying Calvert should not be on appropriations and were ignored.”

The House Republican Conference Thursday ratified Calvert as its choice to replace Doolittle on the House Appropriations Committee, even though the lawmaker faced stiff opposition from conference members concerned that ethics allegations against him could hurt the party.

Erickson told The Hill, “Leadership may be pleased with themselves, but I’ve heard from more than two dozen Republicans on the Hill thanking me for speaking out against Calvert’s appointment. … That tells me Leadership is not in line with those it represents.”

Yes, Dennis' daughter is a reporter for The Hill.

Does that mean Redstate.com is wrong for their actions?

I mean, this is not the first time the so-called Republican, so-called Leadership has effectively flipped the bird to the grassroots, now, is it?

No, but their editor is wrong for endorsing none other than John McCain for President.

This makes me wonder about Redstate.com as the article by none other than Jackie Kucinich is quite apparently reliant on Center for Media and Democracy for the claims. I find it interesting that organization is heavily supported by known Leftist contributors.

Ken Calvert has been our Representative since 1993. We believe this to be demeaning assault tactics of the Left. Typical of Democrats.

Meanwhile, another Redstate.com editor - John Hawkins - is working to promote Hunter, so they’re not all bad.

” - That tells me Leadership is not in line with those it represents.”

WE HAVE A WINNER ! ! !

That line sums up the Republican Party’s situation in part of one line.

How did the rank & file Pubbies allow gun grabbers like Liddy Dole to have any role in their party?

How typical. The Democrats are poised to destroy our economic and national security so the “It’s all about us ” screaming bloggers of the “Conservative” media have decided to...declare war on their own side!

UNTIL the Always Whining Caucus of the Conservative Movement get their head out of their butts and start ACTUALLY finding the balls to EVER attack the Democrats on ANYTHING, NOTHING of the Conservative Agenda will ever again get advanced.

To Erickson and the rest of the pseudo Conservative Democrat Activists pretending to be “Conservatives”, we have a REAL simple message. GET OFF OUR SIDE. You guilt by accusation, innuendo and rumor and the tactics of the Leftists. Quit trying to “help” us and go join your Democrat heros at Daily Kos. You screaming morons ALMOST cost us 2004, did cost us 2006 and Will COST us 2008. JUST GET OFF OUR SIDE!

Your continual hysteric sniping of your own side in the back does ONE thing ONLY, help elect Democrats. So GET OFF OUR SIDE. You spend all your time DOING the Democrats PR work anyway so simply GO JOIN THEM.

What with your continual doing the Democrat PR work for them by never ever managing to do anything but snipe your own side in the back?

On Judges alone the GOP has done FAR more good for the future of Conservatives then all the self righteous arrogant knife in the back pseudo Conservatives of the “alternate” media ever will.

Pretty tough to win a war when 40% of your own side spends ALL their time shooting their own side in the back.

Surprise us ONE time Whiners. Actually find the balls to EVER attack the Democrats on ANYTHING. This habit of the Always Whining Caucus of doing nothing but sniping their own makes most Freepers wonder JUST which side you all really are on?

Not the first time the so called Conservative Democrat Activists here at Free Republic have followed their usual habit of deciding their OWN side is guilty until prove innocent. Maybe instead of jumping to conclusions, the pseudo Conservative Democrat mouthpieces around here MIGHT one time actually bother discovering the facts before pronouncing guilt?

But that right, just like your Leftist brethren, facts are irrelevant to the Always Whining. They are only interested in having their own emotion based political bigotry validated.

"That tells me Leadership is not in line with those it represents.”

Too many on both sides who are more worried about maintaining the power and influence of their political party and not worried enough about the effect on the people and on the country.

IMO, we enable them when we don't critically examine the issues but just blindly support "our party"...they aren't up there for themselves, but to serve our country. We and they often tend to forget that, it seems.

I attack liberals in all forms.

I criticize Democrats routinely.

But I also criticize Republicans who act as liberals.

It does us no good if the Party becomes Democrat Lite.

Ya know I gave your flame baiting personal insult posts up for Lent and I believe I will continue to ignore them.

You obviously never learned to keep your mouth shut and let people think you a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

Little Johnnie needs to stay away from me ‘til you learn to debate without posting personal insults, learn to have some respect for your elders if not for your betters and finally, LEARN SOME MANNERS.

gezzzzzzzzz...NOW QUIT BOTHERING ME WITH YOUR INANE POSTS!

You are dismissed!
