Doolittle: FBI Raid is Intimidation Tactic
The Sacramento Union ^ | May 10, 2007 | Erica Werner

Posted on 05/11/2007 5:15:57 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Rep. John Doolittle, R-Calif., under scrutiny in the Jack Abramoff congressional corruption case, charged Wednesday the government tried to strong-arm his wife to get him to admit to committing a crime.

When he wouldn’t, FBI agents searched his home to intimidate and pressure him and his wife, Doolittle said.

The congressman made the claims during a radio interview with his wife, Julie, on “The Tom Sullivan Show” on KFBK-AM radio in Sacramento, Calif.

Justice Department spokesman Bryan Sierra declined comment.

Doolittle had published an op-ed over the weekend in the Auburn Journal in his district accusing the government of leaking word of last month’s FBI search on his home to coincide with Attorney General Alberto Gonzales’ Senate testimony on the fired U.S. attorneys controversy.

He went further in Wednesday’s interview, and his wife also spoke out for the first time.

A nine-term incumbent, Doolittle recounted that a few weeks before the search his and his wife’s attorneys met with government prosecutors.

“It became apparent to us that there is an attempt by the government to strong-arm Julie in order to get me to admit to a crime that I did not commit,” Doolittle said. “And in our mind, as a result of my refusing to admit to a crime I did not commit, the government searched our home in what we believe was little more than an attempt to intimidate and pressure us.”

Based on what I see here, this guy will say anything to stay in office. He doesn’t bring credibility to his caucus.

I don’t know about Doolittle, but it’s very, very noticeable that the FBI only goes after Republicans. There are many Democrats who are as bad or worse, but they are protected. It’s still basically a clintonoid FBI, and the Justice Department under Gonzalez isn’t too great either.

So you are joining with the Democrats in the backwards presumption of guilt without any proof of innocence or anything? This is why this proven tactic works against Republicans every time it's tried, but NEVER works against the Dems!

Do you also long for Demo domination of the House for 40 years like we endured until the end of the 80's? This kneejerking on Doolittle and Delay reminds me of Hitlery's snide remarks during her first days in office as "Co-President!"

Hey, Republicans are allways guilty due to the seriousness of the trumped up charges. Just look at Libby and DeLay. They weren’t guilty of any crime, they were guilty of being Republicans.

GW and Rove have been guilty before GW was elected in 2000 in spite of Gorebull’s attempted stealing of the election in Floriduh.

I await the indictment of DEMOCRAT DON PERATA, over 2 years of FBI investigation and still no Grand Jury called to bring charges.

Meanwhile Doolittle gets fast tracked, Go Figure,, Rep. Jerry Lewis is in the gun sight as well, expect to see that happen somewhere down the road as well.. But in the mean time, PeRATa skates along..

The DOJ is in need of a Priorities Czar, It’s obvious those heading it now are slow as molasses in January in Vermont.

Perata is a great example of how the very criminal rats continue to legislate more criminal types of actions against us, and nothing happens to them.

Based on what I see here, this guy will say anything to stay in office. He doesn’t bring credibility to his caucus.

Why? Because he's defending himself? What in your eyes has he done wrong?

Well, of course, Doolittle's whole point is that the DOJ is being pressured by the Dem leaders over the AG and the US Attorney firings purposely to control the priorities such as wrecking Doolittle's innocence which is supposed to be presumed until some danged evidence of guilt shows up!!!

But Republican electeds just trudge along figuring "don't complain and don't explain" because nobody wants to hear it and they won't believe it anyways!!! Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the Demonicrats are all high-fiving and grinnin like chessycrats!!!

I thought once the Republicans overwhelmed the Dems in 1994, they'd turn these pre-emptive tables on the Dems, but noooooooooooohohoho... What a waste of some good people to serve their nation, state or locality in elective office!

The liberal ones turn corrupt immediately while the conservative ones nievely try the liberals tactics once and immediately get nailed to the virtual cross by the MSM whose motto is "comfort the afficted and affict the conservatives!" (wait! that was supposed to be "affict the comfortable")
