The only gouging going on is represented by the state tax added per gallon.

I just got back from my niece's Bat Mitzvah in Hoboken, NJ, and I was shocked to see that the gasoline price was about 20 cents a gallon LESS than it was in Kansas City!

Of course the price of gasoline in NY was even more than we're playing in KC. But I was surprised that it was cheaper in NJ.
