Let me give you a psychic reading on your pastor.

He cuts this problem kid slack because of his history/family situation and believes that if the church can just love him enough where he is, he will come to Jesus and so the rest of church has got to put up with this kid’s behavior until then?

Co-dependant pastor, unable to distinquish between sheep and goats, sacrifices the gentle lambs (good kids) in a desparate and pointless quest to save a goat. Your pastor is not doing the kid any favors by ignoring his behavior, he’s merely reaffirming the kid’s belief that no one really cares what he does (and thus noone really cares about him). And Christians are all saps and hypocrites.

Actually, you have him right down. Except he had a great home life in Slovakia (I love his mom and dad) but does cut slack to anyone that has problems. This family has a dad that needs mental help and a mom that is at the end of her rope. Ignoring this kid is not going to help their situation.

However not all Christians are saps. They forget that Jesus put a limit on abuse (turn the other cheek 70 X 7 is not always) and that Jesus never said set yourself up to get smacked. That’s the kind of Christian I am.
