RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina would enter a compact that could eliminate the power of the Electoral College system to choose a president in a bill that passed the Senate on Monday night.

If agreed to by enough states representing a majority of the nation's 538 electoral votes, the measure would require North Carolina to give its electoral votes to whichever candidate wins the popular vote nationwide.....

This is an update to this thread N.C. Bill Seeks to Elect President by Popular Vote posted last night (from the Charlotte Observer) before the vote had been taken - recommending some grassroots lobbying to STOP the Democratic led NC Senate from passing this measure (the vote had been put off from Friday to Mondy night. Then WRAL printed the story AFTER the Senate PASSED this measure - but today this momentous vote was way down the News page at WRAL - in fact you had to ping the STATE stories and go to "more news" in order to find it!!! (They do NOT want North Carolinians to know about THESE shennanigans).

More info below re: who is sponsoring this nationwide push through the State Legislatures to overturn the electoral college.

Let's suppose this traversty passes. Then we have a 2004 redux, only the Dim flips 70,000 votes or so and narrowly wins Ohio, despite losing the popular vote nationwide.

Of course the Dems will sue to have the very laws they pass struck down as unconstitutional because they don't like the outcome.

Why these legislators would vote to surrender their state’s voters — and their votes — to the whims of California and New York is beyond me. This is being pushed by demagogues who have no knowlege of the Constitution, and why the Framers set up the electoral college in the first place.

Is there any good reason why a state with a small population would support this measure?

Don’t you see, this is part of the grand left plan.

Flood the cities with immigrants - illegal or otherwise, makes no difference. Create a vast, permanent, underclass whose very existence depends on continuing government programs and welfare systems, and hold power forever. It’s not about North Carolina - it’s about a march to socialism.

Along the way, silence the rest with the resurrection of the Fairness Doctrine.

My social conscience can just pipe down right now - I vote for ANY Republican before I allow a Dem to take the White House.

And some people I know actually wondered why I just couldn’t seem to adjust to the lifestyle, living in the very beautiful state of NC.

See my post 39 on yesterday's thread. Didn't know at that time what connection Soros had to this "movement" to eliminate the electoral college WITHOUT a Constitutional Amendment = but this stealthy effort has Hillary/Soros Stink all over it....and sure enough, it does.

John R Koza, co-founder of National PopularVote.com (I can no longer go to that website, my access is denied!) has this information about him at Wikipedia

Please read HERE .

Yes of course if this hideous measure passes the NC House - not a done deal yet - Governor Easley will sign it - unless somehow the word can get out about what and who this measure will do if the plotters are successful in their "end run" around the Constitutional Amendment process.

More information on Koza, the co founder of this organization pushing this "movement" as listed above.

Money Report Shows Democratic Senate Campaign Unit Still Living Large

By Greg Giroux Tue Feb 27, 11:59 AM ET

You noticed that George Allen and other important Republican conservative Senators were defeated in 2006 supposedly showing how America "feels" about George W Bush and the Iraq war?

Not so.

And Mr. Koza had a nice part in helping bring the Demonazi's into power in the US Senate.

(He was a large contributor to the effort to defeat targeted Conservative Republican Senators - and this effort, was, of course, successful.

Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee

• January 2007 receipts: $2.2 million
• Cycle-to-date receipts: $2.2 million
• January 2007 expenditures: $1.2 million
• Cycle-to-date expenditures: $1.2 million
• Cash on hand, Jan. 31: $1.1 million
• Debts, Jan. 31: $6.4 million

Notable contributions from individualsz

John R. Koza, president of Third Millennium Venture Capital: $28,500

Sorry NC has become the pit of the South in regards to taxes and state government corruption and liberalism....it used to be a wonderful place to live....still is in many ways....but cooperating with Soros and Ickes to “get around” the Constitutional Amendment requirement to eliminate the Electoral College (which would be stopped!) - is NOT SOMETHING any North Carolinian should be proud of.

No - there is no GOOD REASON. The ONLY REASON is the Democrats/George Soros/Harold Ickes/Hillary Clinton's unquenchable thirst for power - in order to destroy our Constitutional form of government and with it our freedoms, and, should they succeed, at the cost of many lives should they succeed.

What this will mean is that candidates need only campaign in the megalopolies on the coast and ignore the rest of the country. They will pander to the Mexicans, the Muslims and the multicuturalists who will milk the system for all they can. It will be rul;e by the majoritarian mob like they have in Europe and we all know where all that leads. We must stop all of this by whatever means we can. If you live in Nebraska or Colorado or iowa you can kiss what little influence you have goodbye if this pig flies.

Yes of course.

Is there any good reason why a state with a small population would support this measure?

Anyone who supports this measure truly hates our Republic and all for which it stands. The only reason they did this in NC is because the demo legislature is taking orders from national. They demos in NC care more about making the US a socialistic hell, than in defending our Constitution.

It is all about the acquisition of raw power in order to impose a leftist totalitarian dictatorship across this once great Republic. If more and more states cede power to the evil left, there will no doubt be crisis more dangerous to our survival than the Civil War. The moment this Republic starts to truly unravel, dark forces around the world will try to unleash holy hell upon us. Without a doubt, dark days are ahead for all who cherish Liberty, respect individual rights and believe in Capitalism.

George Soros

I believe in my heart that Soros is without a doubt the most evil human being alive on Earth today. He is one with Satan. Soros lives for one reason - to destroy the once great Republic and morph it into a socialist hell. Damn him and all who follow him.

Well, there goes the ball game, folks. Do the voters have any say in these decisions, or are ALL the legislatures infiltrated by the Communists? There are no more Democrats, you know. They’ve all stepped over the line into Communism. We have lost so many freedoms, and are losing more of them each passing day. The courts are legislating us out of our private property, among other things. Are the people finally waking up?
