Maverick filmmaker Michael Moore took the first step on Wednesday in launching his own probe into the U.S. government's investigation of him for making an unauthorized trip to Cuba to film scenes for his latest movie "SiCKO."
Moore's attorney David Boies sent the U.S. Treasury Department a Freedom of Information Act request for all documents in its possession regarding its civil investigation of Moore which was launched by the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control told Moore earlier this month that it was conducting a civil investigation to see if he violated the U.S. trade embargo restricting travel to Cuba. The office said Moore did not apply for the license required for Americans visiting Cuba.
Moore took a group of 9/11 survivors to Cuba to see if their ailments could be helped under the Cuba medical system.
His film about the weaknesses of the American health care system opens at the Cannes Film Festival this week.
Someone should send this jerk an unlimited supply of deep-fried cheeseburgers.
Moore should be carefull. He’s treading ground that congressmen fear to tread.
On second thought, Go for it Mikey. Hell investigate the IRS while you’re at it. LOL
Of course, he wouldn’t have to worry about running afoul of Castro and ending up in one of his mental institutions.
Looks like someone already did...
There's more stink there than on a skunk.
Hey Mikey, there’s a lot of dirt you can dig up on the IRS, not to mention the BATFe. Go for it man! Go get ‘em!
“Moore’s attorney David Boies”
Algore’s favorite pet attack dog (Florida 2000) has found a new moron to represent.
Amen to that. He should start with Treasury’s Bureau Of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (but won’t, because it’s carrying out his leftist agenda just fine).
Next time he needs a dr. it’s OK with me if he goes to Cuba for medical treatment. I would suggest a stomach staple.
Because there is no law for liberals.
Boies was most recently involved in the SCO v. Everyone nonsense. Amusingly, he’s losing bad there and his firm has committed several major legal errors.
Damn, I don’t know who to root for. A corrupt department that shouldn’t even exist (and wouldn’t if the Constitution was used for something other than toilet paper), or a fat commie who is only still alive because he cannot talk and eat at the same time with great efficiency, and whose only redeeming quality is...hmm, nevermind. I’m hoping for an ending like in the movie Ravenous...(but cannot imagine a bear-trap large enough)
Isn’t it about time MM received a visit from the IRS>>>>>?
Okay, I've heard people complaining about a lot of government agencies, but that's teh first time I've heard anyone claim that the Treasury Department was unconstitutional. You give the phrase "tin-foil crowd" a new meaning.
Leaving himself wide open for another Fred Thompson video
Boies is certainly on the A-List. He was the government’s lawyer in the Microsoft suit back in 2000 or so.
I agree. Let Mikey collide with the IRS and let them destroy each other. At least at the end of his life he can do a good deed.
