The Santa Fe Police Department is looking at the possibility of recruiting Mexican nationals to fill vacancies on the city police force, say sergeants in charge of training and recruiting.
Sgts. Gillian Alessio and Marvin Paulk told the city's Public Safety Committee on Tuesday that they are trying to think outside the box to fill 20 vacancies on the 155-person force.
New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy regulations currently prohibit noncitizens from serving as police officers, Police Chief Eric Johnson said later.
Alessio told the city panel: ``Every day, we get approached by young men and women from Mexico who are in the country legally but are not naturalized. There is a huge pool of people who are dedicated, hard-working and trying to become citizens of this country. They would like nothing better than to devote their time to protecting the communities that they live in.''
Some cities in other states already hire noncitizens as police officers.
Both the city of Santa Fe and the state of New Mexico have policies against police officers trying to enforce federal immigration laws.

How in Gods name are we to fight back when we have this non sense going on in every state in one way or another. The cancer is reaching a terminal stage and if we all don’t come together it will kill us all! Mexican, Muslim or otherwise we are not only fighting them from getting in we are fighting our own who are helping them! Be vigilant, let our so called representatives GOP especially, who they should be protecting with a simple message, we will not forget you on election day!
Why do I get the feeling that the powers that be could want to recruit non Americans to round up American citizens for them for their own reasons? Am I being paranoid, or has this possibility occurred to anyone else?
It’s like AD 476 all over again. And I’m not laughing.
“Am I being paranoid, or has this possibility occurred to anyone else?”
Well, Daddy Bush was a Globalist...and the nut hasn’t fallen far from the tree.
I don’t think you’re off-base at all, but that said, we have the ‘Worst. Congress. Ever.’
The Enemy is within, and the phone call is coming from inside the house!
(Obscure terror movie reference; ten points for naming the correct title...just a little fun to keep your mind off of the current mess we’re in...)
This guy is the only hispanic [Mexican mother] running for president--though he'll wind up behind Her Wideness on the ticket.
Lol, and he kindof resembles those guys in the police car! Quadruplets!!
My Texas city is the ‘big town’ with at least 30 miles distance to any other. This is where all those illegals died in the locked tractor trailer!
...the powers that be could want to recruit non Americans to round up American citizens for them for their own reasons?
Well, interesting perspective. Given the radical Marxist nature of the left that is running our country, everything is on the table. We know they want to change what America is...make it into a socialist, big government dominated society that THEY CONTROL in a very absolute way. Our Constitution is already under serious attack. Individual freedoms continue to erode, and the taking of America’s wealth continues to escalate.
Food for thought.
I think they call it Diversity. Here in Virginia Beach they had
to DUMB down the math qualification test because minorities (Blacks)
I LOVE IT!
Whenever I see that graphic, I’m always reminded that
Crisco is “fat in the can.”
So is he...;o)
Yes I wonder if the local American citizens know of the vacancies?
Integration with Mexico proceeding apace. Where’s my Prozac.
>>Yes I wonder if the local American citizens know of the vacancies?<<
Let’s assume the have a real need for native Spanish speakers comfortable in Mexican American community. Its not like we are short of Hispanic American citizens - they are the largest minority.
Were is the extra head on that bird...The Nazis had a two-headed bird...
Eerily reminiscent of that old sci-fi movie, the one with the alien pods. Dana Wynter and Kevin McCarthy were in it. The illegals are here, a creeping menace, and we sleepwalk through the final days of the USA. Welcome to the North American Union.
Recent sexual assaults on women in Santa Fe have sounded an alarm in the community.
some women aren’t waiting around for advice or taking any chances — they’re buying weapons.
Gun sales and pepper spray sales are skyrocketing in Santa Fe.
I thought the Nazi bird was one-headed.
We can’t have women committing acts of violence against attackers, even to protect themselves. This mindboggling thinking is so PC, like kudzu, it strangles common sense.
This is Santa Fe, New Mexico, they’re talking about.
This is a serious problem in Santa Fe. It is more complex than it sounds, its not just libruls hiring “mexicans”. First, several years ago, they made it mandatory for new police officers to have 4 year college degrees, plus the usual clean background. In New Mexico, that really limits your hiring pool..... Then after that, they pay new recruits $13.50 an hour, the same as most other areas in the state. But the cost of living is twice here than in Albuquerque or other parts of the state. Hell, most of the cops we do have on the force can’t afford to live here, they comute from Albuquerque. Add to that wacky socialist mayors, corrupt local politicians, who spend their time thinking of ways to fill their own pockets or thinking of “impeaching Bush” or global warming, and they don’t give a rats ass about crime going up. The mayor is blaming the chief of police for not hiring enough people. They hit their goal for new hires, but just as many quit as they hired in the past year, so nothing has changed. Somehow that is the cops fault and not the city coucil/mayor’s. Of course, if the people ever wake up and kick the losers out, they might change, but that won’t happen in the “city different”.....
The first thing I would do as mayor would be to jack up real estate taxes on all the multi-million dollar homes here owned by rich californians and texans (alot of hollywood types) and double the pay of the cops and increase their numbers.
Maybe they should hire some child molesters to run their probation department while they’re at it.
Is a requirement that one be a citizen before possessing police power and a badge too hard a concept for you?
Yes, but then I'm a veteran. I can accept legal residents.
“Yes, but then I’m a veteran. “
What does that have to do with anything? Nothing at all, of course.
Sad but true.
I think it has alot to do with the issue. The military accepts resident aliens as volunteers to fight for our Repulic's freedom. I would use the same standard for the police forces, also subject to background checks as in the military.
There are significant restrictions on resident alien enlistees.
“I would use the same standard for the police forces, also subject to background checks as in the military.”
The same requirements as required for a commissioned officer should apply to law enforcement.
Can you list some of them ?
Perhaps for a police office at the rank of Lieutenant or above, but not the rank of Sergeant or below.
Here are a few, off the top of my head.
Non-citizen enlistees from hostile countries require a waiver. Non-citizen enlistees generally may not hold a position requiring a clearance. No non-citizen may be commissioned an officer.
I wouldn’t agree. We’re talking about non-citizens holding the police power over citizens. I would never support that.
I'm willing to bet that there are very few, if any non-hispanic officers on the Santa Fe government thug force now.
Good grief!. Why not implement a city income tax as well?
There's a direct relationship. You had better thank God for that and resist all efforts to change it.
Seems like we’re on the road to Aztlan. Glad we’re out of Cali!
