The 16oz. bottled water some people buy is about $1-$1.30 at the take out store. That makes that water $8-$10.40 a gallon. No one complains about that, & bottled water is always being sold. No bottled water companies have gone out of business that I know of.

And don’t get me started on the price of Starbucks, Seattle’s Best & all the other gourmet coffee shops that consumers are shelling out $5/per 12oz.

Where’s the leftest’s outrage over that?

They take a hell of a lot more than 14%, But I know he is referring to the Social Scamurity system.

Remember this:

If a young person could put the same amount of money S Security takes and put it into your own account, you would retire a millionaire AND after living off the earnings which would be 6% of $1M = $60K/annually), you could then pass this on to your heirs on your demise.

Ahhh, but the politicians prefer unarmed peasants.

*pffft*

Get back to me when gas prices hit $4 a gallon, Boortz, and tell me again just how grateful I should be.

Exactly. Neal does what I do when I argue this with idiots...use MATH!

After that the whine converts to, “but I can’t afford another $30 a month on gas” so I counter with, “cancel one of your three cell phones; get rid of cable; stop renting 10 DVD’s a month; go out to eat with your family ( or the movies ) one less time per month; quit smoking; quit drinking, etc.”

Oh, the horror of horrors that I even bring up these facts. The whiners aren’t really complaining about gas, they are complaining about the fact the extra cost is cutting into their other bloated non-bugeted spending items.

Most of these whiners probably pay for HBO just to watch “The Sopranos” so they can appear cool at the office on Mondays.

The gas is now 18.5 cents more expensive than it was last year.

Sorry, Neal, but in my neck of the woods, this morning gas is 15 cents more expensive than it was yesterday. And I am NOT happy about that.

It's time to take a good hard look at the supply issues here, including the larger issue of refinery capacity that is causing this problem. In wartime it is simply horrible public policy to be in the situation we're in.

It’s nice when you have lots of money to burn and can tell all the little people that they shouldn’t complain about not having enough money to buy gas to get to work. They just made bad decisions by taking jobs that are too far away from their homes. They should move to the inner city.

What's all this weeping and moaning over gas prices?

Because we have to buy the stuff every day to get to work.

No, this is a lousy perspective on the rising price of fuel. This idiot forgets to put into the equation the effect the higher price of fuel has on everything that is sold in this country (food, durable goods, clothing, electronics, etc). It is not just about the amount we spend every day for getting to and from work (and to get our children to and from school, going to the supermarket, doctors appointments, etc, etc, etc). Plus, the average commute for the average American is actually somewhere between 40 and 50 miles one-way, not 16 as this idiot has suggested. There are huge numbers of people who have commutes of more than 100 miles one way. Then there are those who need to commute to multiple locations for work each week (and sometimes daily - like me). The generalizations this moron makes only serves to demonstrated the level of his stupidity on this issue. Those that buy into this drivel must be the most naive people in this country.

I'm talented enough to whine about taxes and high gas prices.

I will believe gas prices are really too high for the average American when they start punishing politicians for keeping ANWR and the Outer Continental Shelf off limits to production. Until then, they’e just treating high prices as a nuisance.

If I were back in the US, I guess I would also be crying, but here in Europe, gas is over $5.00 per gallon !!
It is about $5.25 here in Slovakia, but much higher in some other countries.
Many here are turning to natural gas for auto fuel, and the newer buses here run on natural gas.
Cars have a 400 km range on the natural gas with a 200 km
gasoline reserve. The driver can change with the flip of a switch.

According to the AAA, one year ago the price of regular was $2.929. Today that price is $3.114. That's an 18.5 cents per gallon increase over the past year.

Why did he only go back 1 year?

It was only a few years ago I was paying 1.65 a gallon.

I don't care what this guys says.

People driving 25,000 miles a year, add in Mom working and driving another 20,000 mile per year, and middle class and people at lower incomes are being beat like a drum given the fact that most of their incomes don't rise every day or two like gasoline prices do nowadays.

I loved it when years back Rush compared the gasoline to the prices that people pay for other fluids... say beverages at convenient stores or high-end coffee bistros.

I now am amazed at how much people will spend weekly for bottled water, and still complain about the price of gasoline.
