Iran: Men and Women to be Separated in Cafes

Tehran, 17 May (AKI) - Owners of trendy internet cafes, as well as bars and restaurants popular with young Iranians have received a letter signed by national police authorities in which new measures are announced to enforce "the country's moral health." "Public places will not be allowed to use dark windows anymore or curtains which make it impossible to view from the outside what is going on inside," said the letter, which states in particular that men and women must not be allowed inside internet cafes together but in separate days or schedules "to avoid unpleasant promiscuity."

The letter does not mention when these new rules will become effective but states that "a failure to fulfil them will lead to a suspension of the licence."

A new moralization campaign kicked off last month in Iran, forcing men and women to strictly abide by Islamic dress codes or face jail.

The campaign has also involved universities. Reformist university students in Tehran, Lorestaand Shiraz in the west, Babol near the Caspian sea, have been staging protests in the past few weeks against the new government measures which also impose opening hours on campus, lessons' schedules around prayer time, as well as restrictions on political activity. A number of students including members of top Tehran university, the Amir Kabir Polytechnic, have been arrested and accused of 'contacts with foreign powers to overthrow the Islamic government'.

One would think that all the patrons of restaurants in Iran are having sex on the tables. What a bunch of backwards idiots these people(the ones in power)are.

More repression of the young will ultimately accomplish what we cannot or do not wish to do by military means. The young Iranians will depose the Mullahs.

This could speed up the move toward a new revolution in Iran since the vast majority of the young folk in Iran hate the Mullahs.

That would be nice. Plus it would save wear and tear on our munitions stockpile.

hahahaha...agreed. I didn't realize that public orgies in Iranian Cafes was such a huge problem. They must have gotten the idea from HBO.

Or Bill Clinton...

I agree! What’s it coming to when you can’t even go on the prowl for babes at your favorite cafe?!? sheesh.

Indeed. This could very well be the beginning of the end.

I guess they wouldn’t like “Dancing with the Stars”. (Have
you ever seen a happy, smiling Muslim? Their lives are pretty grim and they don’t even know if Allah likes them.)

No smoking, no trans fatty foods, no heterosexual couples.
Headscarves required for all women per multi-cultural dictates of liberal mandates. Coming to America?

I’m waiting for someone to open up a muslim restaurant and then refuse to serve Jews. That ought to be a liberal conundrum to watch......

Not if the Mullahs draft them into the military to fight the Sunnis in Iraq and elsewhere.

My wife and I just went to a prak for lunch, near where I work. A muslim family was there, him in a long dashiki and er in a head to toe BLACK bhurka. It’s near 85°F outside. She had the kids, dressed as the parents were, and a baby in a stroller. He was yelling at her to go sit and be quiet while he and the children walked around the docks. My wife wanted to get out of the truck and go intervene, but I told her it would be of no use. If she did, the woman would be beaten after they got home for embarrassing the man...................

We all saw quite a few of them right after 9/11.

There is good reason to consider that the Iranian yutes would revolt should that take place, and would get plenty of assistance in their revolt.

I doubt it. Muslims are the Dhimmocrats' new political bat with which to beat Bush and conservatives into submission. However loyal Jews may be to the Dhimmocrats, they're always thrown under the bus.
