WASHINGTON - Embattled World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz is negotiating an agreement to resign, according to an official familiar with the talks.
His departure would include an acknowledgment from the bank that he doesn't bear sole responsibility for the controversy surrounding a generous pay package for his girlfriend, the official said.
The negotiations were taking place as the bank's board resumed deliberations over Wolfowitz's fate Wednesday afternoon.
The official said Wolfowitz wanted the bank to accept some responsibility for conflicts of interest cited against him by a special bank panel.
It was not clear whether the bank's 24-member board would accept Wolfowitz's terms. It is up to the board to decide what action should be taken in the matter.
At least he will now have lots of time to spend with his Muslim girlfriend.
I just wrote my Congressman urging him to lead a movement to defund America’s participation in the corrupt World Bank and all the other corrupt bureaucracies that depend on American taxpayers such as the U.N. Disgusting!
I think the theory of US support for the World Bank is that we can buy some influence in the world that way. I don’t think we get much bang for the buck.
Any global ‘financial’ organization that was willing to have that dirtbag Robert Strange McNamara as it’s president is no organization the United States should be affiliated with.
After all, with a euro-slime again holding the best seat at the World Bank, things can get back to normal. Corruption, nepotism, under-cover dealing with dictators and the enemies of the West, kickbacks, bribes, financial fraud......yep.
Chirac may just have the resume with the best credentials in these fields.

The top candidate is Malloch Brown, Koffi Anan’s cover up man, and a good friend of George Soros.
If Wolfie is really gone this round goes to Soros.
...and Wolfowitz played right into his hands.
Add to this today. . .hearing today that Sandy Berger/Bill and Hillary win again and will escape accountability for the Burglar's 'paper trail' makes all this harder to take.
And where is John Bolten today. . .anyway? And is Scooter Libby on 'food stamps' yet?
