Fred’s quoting Thomas Sowell.

Now, he’s being just plain unfair in this race, if any of the other Republicans expect to win! ;-)

Bush and Reagan both used “bi-partisanship.”

The difference is that Reagan used it SUCCESSFULLY. Bush, for the most part, has not.

I think Fred is using Reagan’s playbook, not W’s.

Hmmmm. Its going to be interesting to watch how Thompson plays the hand dealt him. So far, he’s doing very well.

An honest and frank “tone” to his comments.

Refreshing.

What I want to know is does Fred have the courage to poke that cigar in the face of Ahmadinejad. Does he believe that a two-state solution will work in Israel? Does he believe Turkey deserves membership in the EU? What is the best solution for Kosovo? Is China a threat to the U.S.? Is Islam compatible with our Bill of Rights and our Constitution? Should the federal government be involved in the education of our children? Should there be a national ID card? Or a national medical database? Does he believe in the fact that the tradional family is the best source of stability in this country and what are his ideas for shoring that up? Does he believe in universal preK or does he believe parents should be raising their young children? I have many more questions for Senator Thompson. I like the man a lot, but I want to know much more

I think Fred is using his own playbook.

Fortunately, I have the feeling that Fred’s version of “bipartisanship” would really be the Reaganesque “making the Dems in Congress do it my way, and making them like it”. We’ve seen what happens when you stand up to the Dems. Bush vetoed the withdrawal/spending bill, and the Dems blustered, bantered, and....rolled over.

The Pajamas Media poll is certainly good news, especially when, for a lot of politicians, encouragement to run from three relatives and an unemployed campaign consultant is considered an unstoppable groundswell.

*snort* The man does have a finely tuned sense of humor!

Methinks Fred was taking a dig at RonPaul!

I think it was a more generic shot at the "traditional" style of campaigning; the implication being that many campaigns are run essentially for the sake of meeting political consultants' payrolls.

I don’t see “Bi-partisan” as viable anymore.

Bi-partisanship Fred style means bypassing the pols and speaking to the voters. Remember the term "Reagan democrats"? He will attempt to shave away the non moonbats with serious conversations by a likable and serious man...

Not really, just infixing a surrogate theory into the discourse.

I'm sorta partial to Fred also, but I can't buy this mamby-pamby "can't we all just get along" bullcrap.

I don't see anything 'namby-pamby' about Fred Thompson at all! If anything, he'll simply be looking to try to get enough legislators to go along with the ideas he believes are helpful to this country, which he'll need to get anything done. Remember, if he can command an overwhelming majority of the people to his side, legislators can be bullied into going along. Since the President's poll numbers fell, the Congress has been increasingly belligerent.

If he runs, I believe he'll be able to carry enough Republicans on his coat-tails that we can re-gain the House and Senate. And if he wins overwhelmingly, he'll have a real mandate to get some changes through Congress; something President Bush has never had.
