KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Bloggers and media critics are complaining that the national media has ignored the rape and murder of a young Knoxville couple because of the racial implications of the story.
Channon Christian, a 21-year-old University of Tennessee student, and her boyfriend, Christopher Newsom, 23, were raped, tortured and killed in January. Separate trial dates were set Thursday for four people charged in the slayings.
Online critics have angrily insisted that reporters are ignoring the story because the victims are white and the defendants are black.
"I am not going to call it reverse racism," said country singer Charlie Daniels, who has written on his Web page about how little he has heard of the case in Nashville, about 150 miles west of Knoxville. "But I will say it is very selective (journalism).

For more on the details.
The media is suppressing this story.
We live in an age of stunning double standards.
Why should the media cover this? After all, this is a real story. AKA boring
The media only wants to cover and promote sensational fake stories. That’s where the real money is.
Nation guard memos, Duke LAX, Global Warming, etc...
Fiction has a much better bottom line.
Next delusion, please.
The national media *is* purposefully ignoring this case, but it’s not reverse-racism. It’s racism.
‘Stunning’ is referenced to double standards in society is like expressing gas mileage for vehicles in micro liters per angstrom.
Oh..Like a LaCrosse team maybe.
Happily Bill Hemmer just ran a segment on this on FOX news.
"proceeded to sodomize Chris Newsom in front of Channon before they emasculated him and shot him in the head. He was then bound and his body wrapped up in bedding and set afire, prior to being discarded like trash along nearby railroad tracks.
According to Vanessa Coleman, after they tired of torturing and raping Channon, the men urinated on her, and poured cleaning chemicals into her mouth and down her throat in an effort to destroy the physical evidence they had left behind. They then inexplicably cut off her breasts, dismembered her body and threw it in a trash can at the residence.
This story merits national attention.
I think it’s pretty obvious why.
The media want everyone to think that whites are racist, and that they murder, rape and plunder non-whites.
When an incident happens that conflicts with their agenda, they suppress it.
Note this brilliant journalist. Interracial crime...criminal and victim are of the same race. Hmmmm, his own statement underscores his stupidity and, of course, hypocrisy.
Just like the Charles-Rust Tierney case (ACLU president with child torture porn - what, you didn’t hear about that?), the media does not report it because it does nothing good for their agenda.
The DBM with it’s “selective” journalism is driving the growth of forums such as FR. We tell the truth here.
This is true evil. The media don’t want you to believe there is true evil in the world. These scum should be hung today.
I don’t have access to TV right now, but thankfully at least one national outlet covered it. If only these beasts had been on a LaCrosse team.
Condolences to Christopher Newsom and Channon Christian's family and friends.
No biggie. The DBM was able to ignore a similar story in 2001 in Wichita, Kansas. The only big difference in the stories is that the Wichita incident had more than two victims.
My keyword says “Racism”. Those are Charlie’s words.
Read it again...
” ...said interracial crime tends to get more coverage THAN when the criminal and victim are of the same race.” (emphasis mine).
The journalist and Ted Gest may or may not be stupid and hypocritical, but his phrasing here is correct.
The original Mr Magoo sometimes misread things too. :)
Is all very simple. Black on White crime = Dog bites Man. White on Black crime = Man bites Dog.
That is why the "Duke Rape Case" made such headlines.
>We live in an age of stunning double standards.<
We live in an age where Evil presides, and there are no standards.
The lack of coverage makes me angry. My prayers are with the families.
I emailed O’Reilly about this many weeks ago since he is so sensitive to “hate” crimes and atrocities against blacks. Oh, and Court TV must be encouraged/forced to carry this trial.
More than two victims...and a survivor.
Are you a part of his premium members audience? Sometimes I think that is all he listens to.
This was all over FoxNews this morning. They had the pictures of the suspects and a discussion about whether or not this should be a “hate” crime.
Good. I don’t have TV access during the day and did not see it at their web site.
Yeah. I can't imagine the hell she experiences in her head after surviving that nightmare.
No. Just used the FOX link.
On their show this morning, Quinn and Rose said that a source inside law enforcement told them one of the accusers is Muslim.
That’s a new one. Thanks
Good catch. That idiocy blew right past me.
These folks are representatives of lot of the blacks in this country - they hate whites and feel whites are the source of their problems — make no mistake these are savages and deserve the worst possible death penalty possible. Look at those eyes!!!!
A lot of people don’t realize killers like that are all over the place. This is not a safe country.
Theey are and will continue to do so.
Michelle Malkin was sitting in for Bill tonight and did a segment on this story.
If a Black couple had been tortured butchered this way by five whites the outrage would have been massive and worldwide. It would definitely be called a hate crime.
It would be on the front page of the NYTimes for days. It would have gotten a five page treatment in Time Magazine with an abundance of soul searching
