More pathetic numbers. Romney still trails Hillary, who has a 49% unfavorably rating. The fact that non-candidate Thompson, while spending no money, has equaled Romney is just another indication of Romney's weakness.
Again, Republicans can do better.

It is hardly absurd or dirty politics to question conservative ephiphanies that coincide with a run for higher office. You know, I'm fond of saying that everybody should run for President. That way, come election time, people will at least be pretending to be more conservative...

I do not agree with you. Romney saved the Olympics and if that doesn’t show he’s a good leader, I don’t know what does. Hello, the Olympics was in a poop hole. But I don’t want to argue anymore. It’s too hurtful. I was reading President Bush’s proclamation about the Nat’l Day of Prayer (May 5th) in which he reached out to people of all faiths. I wonder if Pres Bush realized when he bowed his head to pray with the American people of faith that Mormons were uninvited. Oh, this isn’t about that. I forgot. I guess I’m still smarting over religious bigotry. Sorry.

Saundra, I’ve kept the focus firmly on Mr. Romney’s record and public utterances on political matters.

A quick search of the page shows that your post was the first time the word “Mormon” even appeared on the thread. If you have to hide behind a baseless charge of religious bias every time your candidate is being criticized, what does that say about your candidate?

I'd like to hear Romney's position today.
That would be a fair question.
What a non-story.
I agree. It was 13 years ago. The idea of working together sounded pretty good. It still sounds good to many people. But weve seen that Democrats dont want to work with Republicans, unless its a bill that Ted Kennedy would like. I suspect Romney is a little bit ahead of McCain and Bush in wising up.

Yes it is true. EV has stayed in the political arena. I think he is fighting his fight fairly. I disagree sharply with his assesment of Romney, but he HAS EVERY right to oppose him.
But ironically for EV, I think he has the best chance to further pro-life policies than any other candidate running.

LOL It seems to me that the romney haters are running out of material.
What’s the problem EternalVigilance? uncle Soros didn’t send a check this month? I hear that MassResistance might be filing for chapter 13. Tough times.
Contract with America was a failure. The size of government kept expanding and nothing was done about term limits for congressmen. Romney was right.

In the 1994 campaign, Romney also proudly labeled himself a moderate. “I’m not a partisan politician,” he said in an interview with The Post that fall. “My hope is that, after this election, it will be the moderates of both parties who will control the Senate, not the Jesse Helmses.”
Helms, the former Republican senator from North Carolina, was one of the most conservative elected officials in the country.
In his 1994 debate with Kennedy, Romney also refused to endorse the “Contract With America,” which House Republicans had proudly presented as their campaign manifesto, and he balked when Kennedy tried to link him to the Reagan administration. “I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush,” Romney retorted.

On conservative talk shows, Romney was being derided today for "throwing the fight," by blurring his differences with the Democrat. Eager to show that he is a moderate independent and no ideologue, Romney stressed his support for universal health insurance and abortion rights, criticized the Republican "Contract With America" promoted by the partys congressional leaders and, at Faneuil Hall, was more outspoken than Kennedy in arguing that the Boy Scouts should not exclude homosexual youths.http://www.eyeon08.com/2006/12/21/why-did-romney-oppose-the-contract-with-america/

The comment was addressed to one poster, not all Mitt critics and not YOU.
"And it turns out the Rudy critics had been right all along about Rudy's pro-abort positions and other liberal stances."
"YEAH, AND I AM ONE OF THEM, I AM A RUDY CRITIC. AND I WAS RIGHT ABOUT HIM. RUDY GUILIANI IS A DEMOCRAT IN REPUBLICAN DRAG, REMEMBER?"
"and I simply do not think he would win the general."
You were wrong about Harriet Myers and that we would be unable to get a more conservative candidate for Justice through the house. You are wrong about Mitt and if you think Duncan can win the General, you're wrong about him.
But you know more than people who have been at it much longer than YOU.
We agreed NOT to post to one another. I knew you would be the FIRST to break that pledge. Don't post to me ever again.

I've been involved in myriad conservative issues, both here and elsewhere. Just today, while I had this thread going, I had two anti-Guiliani threads up as well. And, I'm very active in fighting this immigration bill. And, and, and...
