An FBI agent confronted by a Muslim student at the University of California, Irvine, earlier this month was trying to get a closer look at a "suspicious" truck at the time, federal authorities said Sunday.

The agent had followed the truck to the campus from a separate location as part of an investigation that was unrelated to the school or student activities, bureau spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.

"The investigation the agents were engaged in had nothing to do with the UCI campus or student activities there," she said.

The FBI's response comes after a Muslim student said an agent bumped him with his car near the site of an anti-Israel protest on May 14.

Yasser Ahmed, 21, said he noticed he was being followed by a car with blackened windows as he drove a 24-foot moving van on campus to pick up an exhibit, sponsored by the Muslim Student Union, that protested Israel policies in Palestine.

After he got out of the truck and asked the driver to identify himself, he claimed the driver then revved the engine and began pushing Ahmed back with the front bumper before driving off.

The university's police department on Sunday referred inquiries to the school's public relations department. A message left Sunday with a university spokeswoman was not immediately returned.

The FBI said the incident occurrent on a dead-end street after a group of people surrounded the car of one agent.

"The agent blew his siren and used the cars PA system to warn" the group, the bureau said in a statement. "At that point, it was clear that this was a law enforcement vehicle. At least one person threw or placed a cinder block under the law enforcement vehicle."

Investigators had fist observed the truck away from the campus and decided to follow it because its sign was painted over and there were no visible license plates, Eimiller said. She did not elaborate about the investigation.

Anyone and I mean ANYONE who gets in front of my car WILL be run over. I made this vow many years ago after reading reports of people being murdered for stopping when someone jumped in front of their vehicles.

This “student” would have more than a “bump” if he tried this stunt with me.

“Days of Decent People’s Rage” to protest the Islamofascist evil. Islam doesn’t mean “peace.” It means “submission.”

After seeing what happened to Reginald Denny during the beginning of the LA riots, I vowed never to allow anyone to pull me from my vehicle.

UC Irvine has a history of tension between Muslim and Jewish students. In 2003, a Holocaust memorial was vandalized, and the next year an anti-Zionism exhibit was burned down.

This year, the Hillel Foundation of Orange County launched an investigation of alleged anti-Semitic incidents on campus and blamed Muslim students for disrupting a Jan. 31 lecture by Middle East scholar Daniel Pipes.

The U.S. Office for Civil Rights also is investigating anti-Semitism at UC Irvine, the first probe of its kind at a college. Muslim students have said Jewish students consider any criticism of the Israeli government anti-Semitic.

” Muslim students have said Jewish students consider any criticism of the Israeli government anti-Semitic.”

Of course the Muslims aren’t being anti-Semitic. There’s no more of a wish for the death of Jews behind Muslims heaping calumny on Israel than there is a presumption of Christianity’s God behind Intelligent Design.

That’s gold plated sarcasm for those of you in Rio Linda.

Hard to believe that our nation allows that garbage in our country. Our government has sold us out.
