MICHAEL CHERTOFF, HOMELAND SECURITY SECRETARY: You know, Wolf, first, I understand there's *** some people who expect anything other than capital punishment is an amnesty. *** The reality is the proposal here requires people who came in illegally who want to stay to pay a penalty. Like a fine. That's a punishment. That's not an amnesty.
The worst of it is that this is the clown we depend on to protect our borders. Jorge must have his head in a VERY dark place.
What colossal arrogance!
They're rewriting the laws so illegals can stay. It's an amnesty.
Chertoff, IMO, is the Bush Admin official most to blame for problems with the federal Katrina response.
I did not trust Chertoff from the word go.
Fire the bastard.
And the hits just keep on coming!
Chertoff - murderers
Graham - bigots
Bush - vigilantes
Martinez? - we will educate them on the bill
Folks these people are from our own party! How much more arrogance and elitism are we going to take? They stand there every day and tell us we are ignorant, racist, and bigoted simply because we don’t want our country invaded. What do the Democrats do when they have no argument? They start calling people names. The Republicans have fallen into that too now.
Well, they no longer represent me, they represent Mexico.
Well, they don’t represent me. I am ashamed to be associated with them.
who does he think we are? Not, who. What. He thinks we are stupid. As in, we will take it (lying down, sitting up, squatting...) as usual
The proposed law would allow even terrorists and gang members to stay. The only thing these clowns are interested in protecting is cheap labor interests and the prison industry.
This is a new (not really) canard. I’ve watched many pols, talking heads and other pro amnesty folks saying that us extremists will only settle for mass deportation of 12-20 million illegals and that is not possible.
BS. I don’t expect that we can round them all up either. I do think that we can secure our borders and provide interior enforcement first, then prepare a system of employee verification that’s much less than a national ID. We can deport every illegal as they have run-ins with law enforcement. We can withdraw most incentives and then most illegals will self-deport. Then, if we still need cheap labor, we can invite them in from their home countries after careful screening.
I am rapidly losing all faith in this government. Are they morons are or are they just too crafty?
Try this. We do fine speeders, not put them in jail. On the other hand, if they are still speeding at the time we try to give them a ticket, we usually chase them until the stop speeding, and if they do it too much we throw them in jail.
An illegal who walks into a room and pays a fine is still here illegally after they pay the fine. Unless of course someone passes a law that says that being here is no LONGER a crime.
I’d love it if I could just pay one speeding ticket and then I could speed all I wanted to.
Chertoff is a buttlicker.
His total infatuation with The Swimmer is off-the-chart insane.
His handling of Homeland Security is off-the-chart insane.
Considering him as an advisor to elected officials in any capacity except personal valet is off-the-chart insane.
The sad thing is he was a pretty good judge, and Bush HAD him on an appeals court, and he YANKED HIM OFF the courts. He hasn’t been able to fill that appeals court position with another good judge. So we lost a good judge to get Chertoff running the DHS.

Chertoff (brought to prominence by none other than Rudy Giuliani, then was appropriated by GHWB, embraced by the Clintonistas, and then catapulted to his current position by GWB.
Want to know something really "funny"? He is being floated as a possible replacement for Alberto Gonzales, should Gonzales get the axe.
As much idiotic hyperbole as Chertoff spews, it’s not half as bad as what Fred Barnes is saying.
"What would you do if these 12 million were al queda?"
Would you give them amnesty also?
Just another perfumed prince.
This administration has been a horrible disappointment. Michael “Skeletor” Chertoff is a disgrace. Just like his “awesome” buddy Ted Kennedy.
They pay a small paperwork processing fee to stay, and an extra fee if they want a permanent green card.
They get rewarded. You don’t normally get rewarded through an amnesty process.
An amnesty is like in Australia, where they declared certain firearms illegal and you could turn them in without going to jail- that’s amnesty, you don’t go to jail but don’t keep the guns.
In this case the illegals pay the fee, and stay, so TECHNICALLY it’s not amnesty, it’s a gift. A nice gift, and they help out by paying some of the paperwork fees.
Please tell me that this idiot is not really this stupid. Good grief, I can't stand these people anymore.
The name mike chertoff, the answer is the worlds most incompetent boob.
its not half as bad as what Fred Barnes is saying
I despise that little weasel....he turns my stomach.
You just create a system within the already existing Dept. that local LEOs contact when they locate someone who is illegally in the country. Any suspect that is, don’t even ask the victims so they won’t be afraid to contact the cops when they are victimized. But anyone booked into jail has their background checked for immigration/citizenship status.
Keep it coming Chertoff.
These border bots need this for their pompous childish rants.
It is the American people who are being punished, first by the illegals themselves and then by the Congress who wants to turn a blind eye to our plight.
JUST BUILD DUNCAN HUNTER’S FENCE. IT THE DAMN LEAST THAT YOU COULD DO, CONGRESS.
Why the f**K is the NATIONAL GUARD being sent to Iraq while our borders are virtually wide open?
That’s the 800 lb. gorilla no one sees... >:(
Would you give them amnesty also?
Depends on how cheap they would pick lettuce & cut grass.
What would you do if 12 million illegal aliens were willing to fight for us in Iraq?
Really, how many tickets did those muslim illegals have when arrested last week, 54?? When were they going to be thrown in jail?
The ironic part? If they really believed we were at war, there would be "capital punishment" for, shall we say, "uninvited guests."
I really, really dislike this man.
Fire his boss.
Wonder what drugs you were on.
When are these anti-american haters be thrown in jail with the illegals?
Why not just sell citizenship at the border or ports of entry? That would simplify it enough for pro Illegal imigration idiots like Chertoff, Kennedy, McCain, Reid and GWB.
I challenge ANYONE to prove that anyone with any standing EVER said to “deport all 12 million”. The challenge is out. Anyone show me?
I really, really, really dislike my government right now.
Time for a revolution.
I was wrong.
After 911 he should have asked for a declaration of war.
We should have reinstituted the draft, not for the military, but for the Homeland Defense Force. Trained by the military but used to guard our airports and all strategic facilities. This could have been set up easily so that following basic and AIT, you could be assigned close to home. Service could also be combined with involuntary college training.
Invade Afghanistan? Yes. Invade Iraq? Yes. Do it like we did it? No! Rumsfeld was a disaster. He would not allow the military leaders to plan for the occupation. We did not invade Iraq with enough troops for a proper occupation.
Bush allowed Rumsfeld to much latitude. Bush is responsible for three years of doing exactly the same thing in Iraq and yet expecting the results to change. He is responsible for the Republicans losing Congress.
Immigration: Bush is allowing the filthy elite rich of Mexico to maintain that country as a third world hell hole. If people starve or die living there or trying to escape into America, he is responsible for not forcing Mexico's leadership to start cleaning up their country. His lack of leadership is responsible for the poor little seperation of babies and their parents (Like that really happens.)
And my last subject (for tonight's rant, not all of the things Bush has done wrong.) Bush trusted the damn demoncraps like only a simpleton would. He should have fired every Clinton appointee on day 1. Tenet at the CIA, Bush's fault. All of those Clinton AGs not invetsigating crimes the clintons and demoncraps did (voter fraud, etc) is Bush's fault for not cleaning house.
No, I do have one more thing. Sandy Berger should have been tried for treason for destroying evidence to influence the 911 Commission. Berger's actions could prevent the 911 Commission, and ultimately we Americans, from learning the truth. This means that he is contributing to another 911 type of disaster by covering up what went wrong this time. I call Berger's actions treason and I call Bush's actions incompetence.
Do you still beat your wife?
However, I have begun to believe that not only must Bush appointees (save the Supremes) tout the Bush policy, they must do so while willingly opposing the American people and the extreme danger to our borders if we leave this system in place for one more day!!!
These pro-amnesty people are great with their straw-man arguements. LOL!
Nah, his boss is the only one with nads in fighting the islamo nazis.
