Excerpt -

A Moscow based man is to be charged in connection with the murder of the former Russian spy Alexander Litvinenko.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has said it will ask for the extradition of a former KGB agent Andrei Lugovoy.

At a news conference Director of Public Prosecutions Sir Ken Macdonald said: " I have today concluded that the evidence given to us by the police is sufficient to charge Andrei Lugovoy with the murder of Mr Litvinenko by deliberate poisoning.

"I have instructed CPS lawyers to take immediate steps to seek the early extradition of Andrei Lugovoy from Russia to the United Kingdom, so that he may be charged with murder - and be brought swiftly before a court in London to be prosecuted for this extraordinarily grave crime."

There was an excellent article of the Litvinenko murder in the June issue of Popular Scince. I'm not positive but I think Andrei Lugovoy was named...IIRC they had a picture of him as well.

I'm not sure Pooty-poot will let him be extradicted without a messy...possibly deadly fight.

Russia refuses to extradite Lougovoï

MOSCOW - the Russian Parquet floor general excludes any extradition from the Russian, Andreï Lougovoï, put in charge by British justice for the murder of the Russian ex-agent Alexandre Litvinenko, indicated Tuesday a source to the parquet floor quoted by the Russian agency Ria Novosti.

“Under the Constitution of the Federation of Russia, the Russian citizens cannot be extradited towards foreign countries to be translated into justice and Lougovoï is a citizen of Russia”, raised this source.

The ex-agent of the KGB, today businessman, lives on the Russian territory and can thus be the subject of an investigation only by the only Russian authorities, added this source.

The Parquet floor general, joined by AFP, refused initially with any comment. Russia had already let know these last months that it would be opposed to any extradition of the one of its nationals in this business.

The British parquet floor accused Tuesday Andreï Lougovoï for the murder in November 2006 in London d' Alexandre Litvinenko.

I doubt there’s any chance of him getting extradited; not while we harbour Russians who call Putin out for what he is.

This man is now effectively a fugitive for life. He will never be able to enter the EU or the United States or any country that the UK has extradition treaties with.
