When you call, pass along the disgust noted in my tagline.

Great work, dennisw!

My GA Senators are not taking calls. Voice mail and busy signals at the local and DC offices of both. Cowards.

I would call it the “LIBERAL AND RINO AMNESTY” bill aka “Destroy America and your Children and Grandchildren’s Future” bill. In my email to our elected morons, I added that their “in your face” arrogance was reprehensible.

I sent messages to both of my senators. Unfortunatly one is a RINO and the other is a demorat.

Senator Not Proven Specter doesn’t even have illegal immigration as one of the issues to chose when filling out the web form.

Maria,
Call anyway. The Washington Post reported that there are democrats who don’t want anything to do with this bill. John Tester of Montana doesn’t even want to debate it. Bottom line is a senator who supports the bill in its current form will have no political future and they know it. Did you notice that none of the senators running for president voted yesterday. They’re avoiding it like the plague.

That’s good RR. The fact they’ve switched over to voicemail tells you that they can’t handle the onslaught of calls. They still got the message. GA senators support this (in current form) to their own peril.

Off the telephone this instant from NM Senator Bingaman’s office.
The assistant was very busy and harassed by the large number of incoming calls.
I expressed my feelings and the overt negative aspects of the McCain/Kennedy bill, and she said that the overwhelming number of calls supported that position.
She said the Senator has not made up his mind on how to vote at this time.
Keep up the pressure.

If you’re only e-mailing, you’re wasting your time.

CALL THEM!

I did. I figured it couldn’t hurt to add to the deluge of calls and emails that are probably coming in!

Just finished a call to Senator Byrd.
Lots of calls coming in to his office, said his receptionist.
Almost all were negative.
The Senator’s position is firmly against the bill in every form.
He will NOT support it.

Keep calling.

Calling and sending e-mails and cards does help.

We have laws already - we need to have the laws enforced.

I just finished a call to Florida (D) Bill Nelson.
He has not taken a position and according to his assistant he is surprised at the number and intensity of calls he is receiving.
I expressed my negative feelings about the bill and it was carefully(more than the usual for/against)recorded for relay to the Senator.
Keep up the pressure.
These folks understand votes= political survival.

My letter to Sherrod Brown, Ohio:

Mr. Brown:

I would like to be on record with your office in my opposition to the recently proposed Immigration Bill.

This legislation, if adopted, will not correct existing problems with control of US borders, cannot address the problems with identifying and tracking persons entering this country illegally and is not compatible with any concept of United States citizenship or with the national character of a free and sovereign America.

No economic, social or morally practical purpose would be served in denying/ignoring a lack of documentation for persons who arrive/arrived here illegally or who remain here in that status.

If the word or concept ‘legal’ applies at any time or anywhere in this country for any purpose, it cannot be compromised for this issue alone while held to its full and proper meaning elsewhere, otherwise and at all other times for persons who possess legal citizenship in this country.

You have the safety of Americans and the rightful sovereignty of U.S. territory in your keeping. You can not do more to protect your constituents and preserve the unalloyed privilege of American citizenship, either for those who already are citizens or for those who may legally become citizens, than to oppose the new Immigration Bill.

Please respond.

Looooong conversation with Senator Feingold’s (D-Wi)assistant.
This Senator has NOT taken a position and is being swayed against by the number and degree of vehemence against the bill.
The assistance was also amazed by the numbers of calls. He said he never recalls such intensity.

Remember: BE POLITE.

Sen Clinton’s office answered in just a few short minutes from being on hold. They did ask for my zip code which I was happy to give them. I didn’t mention whether I was dem or republican and they didn’t ask. I was clear - no ifs, ands, or buts — I was AGAINST this bill in any form. They thanked me for calling.

Great going. I see from your freeper home page you are the real deal. I live in FL and called both Senators last week. Martinez - I called him a damn traitor. He isn't going to budge anyway. With Nelson I told him I will vote for anyone who runs against him

martinezkennedy.jpg
RNC Chairman Mel Martinez and that empty headed mediocrity Lindsey Graham yucking it up with Ted Kennedy over how they stuck it to conservatives on this immigration bill. LINK

Called to Norm Colman’s office.
They were polite and very busy. Lots and LOTS of incoming calls. Most if not all against the McCain/Kennedy tragedy.Coleman is riding the fence and has expressed NO position.

Lots more calls needed.

I called and emailed. I told them I was a Republican who voted every election and my vote was up for grabs because I was disgusted with the Republicans (I didn’t say I’d vote 3rd party). I pointed out that we have the Duka brothers here in NJ who are illegal immigrant terrorists, we have the growing MS-13 gang, and the hard-working poor can’t support a family in this state because their wages are driven down.

Going to get my family and friends calling too.

D-—, but I’m getting violent revolutionary urges. What is with these elitist traitors?

What a revolting picture. Republicans laughing and joking with that fat drunk Kennedy, little knowing that they’re committing political suicide with this amnesty. More than just destroying the GOP, they are destroying America. Graham, McCain, and the other Republican fat cats in bed with the commie-crats make me want to puke. I weep for the America that no longer exists. The GOP is as bad as the democrats in many ways. We have no hope.

The call to Senator Evan Bayh is the first that I can describe as borderline rude or impolite(better description)
“Oh. Yeah. Another. I’m putting you on hold, Bud”
The receptionist/assistant was brusque and impatient. The position of the Senator is not officially known, but something tells me he is a strong supporter, based on the asshole principal. Still. He IS a politician and they are creatures of survival. They understand danger and pressure. Notwithstanding being pissed off at the rude behavior, it behooves us all to be polite. And keep the pressure on.

Called to Senator Kent Conrad’s office.
Lots of incoming. Most or all negative.
The Senator has not presented a position. He is wavering.
I assume that means he can be swayed to go against it.
The aid was sweet and very overworked.

Calling I feel is the way to go. e-mails are not as effective(my gut feeling).

Remember. Sugar and flies.
Call back to Nelson’s Office and BE POLITE. Keep it neutral. He is a reed in the wind. He likes to be liked.
No chest bumping no dick measuring.
Get your position in the No side of the paper.
Numbers is what counts for some.

Martinez is lost anyway so don't bother or waste your time. Like calling Boxer or Feinstein. Or Kennedy. :~)

I called Dorgan’s Office.
They have no “live” receptionist. A recording states that one can leave a message.
I did.
Gratefully, I was not told to press number one for English.
I am never please with recordings. It signifies a willingness not to be involved personally.

Senator Mary Landrieu’s office has a sense of humor and the Senator has not taken a position at this time.
Something (gut) tells me she would like an excuse NOT to vote for it.
They are polite and are keeping a strict tally of those for and against.

Politeness counts. Even if it hurts sometimes.

"... doesn’t even have illegal immigration as one of the issues to chose when filling out the web form."

Then pick "national security." Pick "jobs" or "unemployment." Pick "crime." These all relate to illegal immigration.

Of all the ways to communicate your displeasure to your elected "misrepresentatives," a stamped, hand-written letter is, by far, the most impressive. And they can't "edit" that letter by restricting you to only certain categories. When the USPS delivers hundreds of bags of letters to his office, that can't be ignored or misinterpreted.

Done. Republican’s mailbox was FULL (gee, I wonder why?).

But the Democrat’s was open so left a polite message (really!) saying please don’t support this travesty of a bill and reminded how it hurts all sorts of Americans.
