A Decree from Markos
www.HughHewitt.com ^ | 5/22/07 | Dean Barnett

Posted on 05/22/2007 8:56:00 AM PDT by The Blitherer

Under the headline, “Record Everything They Do,” Kos wrote yesterday:

Every appearance by a top Republican official or candidate should be recorded. Every one of them.

All it takes is one "Macaca" incident to transform a race or create one where one didn't exist. As the Montana incident blogged earlier today showed, a video can knock out prospective candidates before they even enter.

And this is no longer about finding one big blunder to put on a campaign commercial. It's about using video and (free) technologies like YouTube to build narratives about opponents, using their own words, at their own events.

First of all, to give credit where it’s due, this is an excellent idea. Because I’m not really the call-to-action type, I’ll leave it to some other enterprising right wing pundit to market a similar effort for conservative activists. We really should get busy on this because Democrats are at least as tongue-tied and prone to blunders as Republicans. Need I remind you, John Kerry is up for re-election in ’08. His race alone should keep a half-dozen Republican digital camcorders busy.

Second, this is why conservatives in general and Republican campaigns in particular are crazy not to monitor the left wing blogs more closely. Here, in one brief and painless blog post, Markos has laid down the rules of the engagement for the next political cycle, As a politician, you'd certainly want to know that appropriate care must be exercised at all times when you sally forth into the public eye.

I imagine this set-up will be especially difficult for politicians who are unusually prone to fatigue like Barack Obama.

or create one where one didn't exist.

Right out of the DNC handbook!

Remember this?:

The Drudge Report is reporting that [t]he Kerry/Edwards campaign and the Democratic National Committee are advising election operatives to declare voter intimidation -- even if none exists.... A 66-page mobilization plan to be issued by the Kerry/Edwards campaign and the Democratic National Committee states: "If no signs of intimidation techniques have emerged yet, launch a 'pre-emptive strike."

The Demagogues have their own “Macaca” incidents all over the place, all the time...... embarrassing outrageous gaffes that are far worse than anything George Allen ever said. However, the ‘Rats are well protected by the MSM, so that these episodes either never see the light of day or else are quickly neutralized, trivialized, and defused.

Further proof that the first and only requirement to run for public office is to be a flat-out-idiot, corrupt, or both, because no one in their right mind or with a shred of decency is going to subject themselves and their families to this kind of obsessive surveillance of every syllable and gesture. We’ll never again know the full potential of American leadership as the political process grinds to a complete halt with crap like this. Pretty soon, the DNC (and the RNC) will just send out suicide bombers to eliminate candidates and be done with it. What do we have to show for the last 20 years? Bush 41, Clinton 42, Bush 43, and now (heaven forbid) Clinton 44, Obama, or Romney?

The office of President is in tatters.

The Demagogues do have their own Macaca incidents but the RNC and Republican office holders don’t bring it up and keep bringing it up. We try to play nice; the Demos don’t.
We loose but at least we are nice. The Demos are nasty and they win.

Dean is clearly a moron since he obviously hasn't a clue this already occurs.

They don't seem to realise this could cut both ways a la Howard Dean.

Can't wait till Hillary throws a hissy fit, or is incited to by a heckler in the audience.

Can't wait to videotape Obama in his anti-whitey "church".

Etc.

First good idea they have had yet!

Wasn’t this the guy who said “F#@k them!” about the four contractors to die in ‘03? Public seem to have forgotten that. Does someone have a tape?

Its an old idea that the midget at dailykos wants to claim as his own.

This tells me the midget is out of new ideas, and thats a good thing.

Poor markos, so small of body and mind.

I was going to say, this is really old hat for the street-fightin union thug scumbags who make up the ratz party in Philly.

They’ve been doing this since Sony made the first hand held video camera in Beta.

Yep, now that you mention it both the unions and the security teams used this tactic during labor disputes to great effect.

I think its a pretty damning admission by the leftwingnuts like the midget at dailykos they know they can’t win on ‘the issues’ and are already making plans to get around it.

Joe Biden comes to mind.

Can't wait till Hillary throws a hissy fit, ...

You can be sure she'll never again let herself be caught screaming at her Secret Service bodyguards, "Get Back! Get the f*ck back!!!"
