Cosmetic abortion an ugly science
The Washington Times ^ | May 19, 2007 | Fred Reed

In England the Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority (HFEA) has licensed a fertility clinic to screen embryos for a genetic defect that causes a severe squint.

A squint?

The man to whom the license was granted, professor Gedis Grudzinskas, was asked whether he would screen babies for hair color. He replied that hair color "can be a cause of bullying, which can lead to suicide. With the agreement of the HFEA, I would do it."

Mr. Grudzinskas further said that "he would seek to screen for any genetic factor at all that would cause a family severe distress."

The phrase, “can be a cause of bullying, which can lead to suicide” occuring as a justification for abortion makes me wonder whether the speaker or author agrees with Oedipus: “Never to have been born, that is best of all.”

(I wonder the same thing about the designer of the ‘Save a life, spay and neuter’ bumperstickers veternarians often sport on their cars or SUV’s.)

I wonder what would happen if there ever was a way to determine if a baby is going to be born a homosexual or not. Then when mothers have abortions for the sole purpose as not to have a gay child, I wonder how the liberal left would react then? That would put them in a dilemma for sure.

When do we get to see a child's right to a parental abortion?

If a parent or former guardian becomes a burden or inconvenience to their child post retirement shouldn’t the child have the right to a parental abortion?

What if that retired parent is causing their child stress, a potential health risk, or financial hardship. Shouldn't the child then have the right to take that parent down to the local planned parenthood clinic and have them humanely put to sleep?

Oh wait, how about those little suicide booths like they had on every corner in the TV show Futurama. Take the parent down, shove them in, stick in a quarter and walk away.

After all, aren't the current parents of todays children responsible for GLOBAL WARMING with all their dirty industrial revolution and expansion over the last 70 years. Isn’t that legacy a potential health and financial burden on the poor kids dealing with the pollution left by their parents or the bills from their care?

WE NEED TO DEMAND A CHILDS RIGHT TO PARENTAL ABORTIONS NOW! DEMAND THIS FROM EVERY DEMOCRAT AND RINO AT EVERY RALLY! WE MUST HAVE OUR PARENTAL ABORTIONS!

After all...What's the difference?

*I guess I need to end this with a highly sarcastic tag*

Public works crews constructed hundreds of feet of fence down the middle of
Bennington Ave. and on a privately owned vacant lot next door to the Delta Women's
Clinic to separate pro-lifers from the clinic and its pro-abortion forces.

Bennington Avenue will be closed "until further notice," city-parish officials said.
DPW crews  installed a 6-foot-tall chain link fence
around a vacant lot adjacent to the clinic on Bennington Avenue and installed a
similar fence down the middle of Bennington Avenue near the clinic.

The work was done to prepare for Operation Rescue's "Summer of Purpose”
protests in Baton Rouge. Delta was considered the primary target of the
pro-life group Operation Rescue In Baton Rouge.

I thought that this was just a cheesy sci fi film plot at first.

Unfortunately it is real.

Oh my word! genetic screening for squinting or hair color if it could be deemed the cause of bullying and therefore suicide!??? i can't stop shaking my head in disbelief. if they wish to create perfect creatures then they should be looking somewhere else...there is not a single human that is perfect, born without flaw. perhaps the man should rather work on making manikins?

to undo societal issues we will now abort babies? rather than getting at the heart of the issue, lets just remove what we THINK is the cause? it must be because someone wasn't born looking perfect that causes everyone around them to pick on them, bully them, discriminate against them? so the victim is at fault, and we will just eliminate the victim?!

surely God's heart is breaking!

He replied that hair color "can be a cause of bullying, which can lead to suicide.

I guess cheaper and easier to abort than to, um, fix the bullying problem... /sarc

In the imaginations of the fallen human heart the rationalization for the evils we do arise. Once the mind attaches a utility to that evil, the soul is stumbling downward.

It isn’t a new idea. All throughout history, the idea that “if we get rid of the people with X, then all will be great!” comes up time and again.

Many here on this site believe in a version of it as well.

I’ve never heard of anyone being bullied for hair.

What hair color causes this?
